House LIVE Blog: “Safe” (Ep. #216)

by Cory on April 4th, 2006

Original Air date: Tuesday, April 4, 2006

Sick teen with a paranoid mom, a sensitive boyfriend, and a huge scar down her breastbone. She’s sick of being locked in the house. Blisters on her wrist - anaphylactic shock - Epi-pen to the rescue. Mom accuses boyfriend.

House in PJs. Pulls dirty dishes out of oven and stacks in sink. Wilson is staying with him. Girl’s reaction occurred in a clean room.

Joke about Cuddy’s panties. House’s first thought: Someone’s lying. Girl has history of

Cameron and Chase examine her room. One of the windows is unalarmed. Boyfriend snuck in the night before for some wink-wink, nudge-nudge. No semen allergy. Turns out the boy snuck some of a friend’s penicillin so he wouldn’t have any germs for the sleep-over. Bad news: Girl’s allergic to penicillin.

They’re releasing her… no their not! Another seizure, this time it’s her heart. Love the white foam from the mouth.

At the white board. Sounds like we have two issues: allergic reaction, and heart failure. Foreman actually asserts himself. CAT scan rules out damage to the heart. Next up: blood work for infection & biopsy for rejection.

Wilson finds the stethoscope on the doorknob, so he spends the evening on the front stoop… for what appears to be no reason. House was thinking.

Biopsy is negative for reaction. Girl is in the wind! without her clothes. Foreman finds her in the stairwell. They have a moment. Back down the stairs, he notices her left foot drags. Examination: muscle twitch above knee = ascending paralysis.

At the white board again. Focus on paralysis. Lumbar puncture and further exams. The have a theory: some acronym, where the blood winds up attacking the body. Solution = transfusion.

House has been deleting messages for Wilson, messages that would get him out of the house. House confronts Wilson about denying the end of his marriage.

Transfusions aren’t working yet. Girl flip-flops: doesn’t want to see boyfriend; clings to mommy. Mommy thinks she’s given up. Up from a nap! The paralysis has reached her lungs, and they have to intubate.

The boys call House at home, where he’s putting Wilson’s hand in a bowl of water.

At the white board: House figures the boyfriend snuck something else in. Confronts her on the MRI table. Turns out boyfriend didn’t take penicillin, but an antibiotic to which she isn’t allergic. House thinks it’s a tick brought in by the boyfriend.

Wilson conspires to give House and Foreman a chance to look for the tick in the elevator. Searching… searching… Pulse is 38… 35… still no tick…. Now house is doing a vaginal exam And the elevator doors open. House finds the tick just before dad chokes him.

House’s cane mysteriously breaks… as if someone had filed half way thru it in the night.

Girl’s in good shape the next day. Mom chills; she’s going to school.

House and Wilson on the couch. A splint on the cane. Wilson has finally called a divorce lawyer. House is sitting in Wilson’s urine, so he uses Wilson’s pillow as a cushion.
