House Rating on the Rise [UPDATE]

April 13, 2006 by Cory

The Mercury News picked up this AP Wire report:

Hugh Laurie’s Dr. Gregory House and his co-stars on the medical drama have been catching fire, showing improved ratings four weeks in a row, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Like last season, “House” is being helped immensely by airing directly after television’s most popular show, “American Idol.” Still, last week’s episode had strong retention rates: “American Idol” was seen by 28.8 million viewers, with 22.7 million staying on to watch “House.”

22.7 million is a lot of viewers, roughly a 20.6 share. It was the #4 show for the week of April 3-9, beating Lost, Survivor, The Unit, and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship game.

[UPDATE] The success isn’t just limited to the US markets either. Broadcaster Magazine reports top ratings in Canada, too.

“House” on Global ranked #1 in the time period, and #2 for the night Nationally and also in key Toronto and Vancouver markets.

Way to go!
