Sarrah Le Marquand of the Courier-Mail has a nice little interview with our Dr. Robert Chase, played by Aussie actor Jesse Spencer. The main topic: Just how did Spencer get the gig?
My agent rang up and said they had a pilot and I said, “What’s the point of me going in for that? I’m sick of going in for these roles that I’m never right for.’ I’ll go in for stuff that pushes the boundaries, but 36?
And they said, “Well what else are you going to do?” and I said, “I don’t know . . . go to the pub.”

Jesse, in response to your interview (I’m not sure how long ago it was), it is strange how things work out. You get a great job when you are not looking for it. I’m just thankful that you did give House a try. I think you are perfect for the role. It also gave the U.S. females something great to look at. There is all this talk about Neighbours but of course I have not seen it. I’m sure you were fabulous in that role as well. Let the House writers know that the House fans would like to see a love interest for Dr. Chase. Here’s to another great year and more to come. Thank you for your kind words. I’m glad you enjoyed Flourish. Jennifer and I sure had a good time working on the film. Right now we’re focusing on House but we hope to start planning our wedding and possibly other joint movie projects in the future. Jennifer can’t seem to decide on a color scheme for the wedding. Personally, I like blue and green, but she tends to disagree. We can’t seem to agree on a location either. My brothers, Tarney and Luke, have never been out of the country so they’re a bit wary about leaving home (or taking so much time off of work) but either way it will be an amazing ceremony. Thanks for your continued support.

Jesse…You are such a sweetheart. No wonder you have captured Jennifer’s heart! Hey listen, you tell your brothers to get over it and they will be wherever you need them to be. On doctors’ salaries, they can take weeks off, I’m sure. Also, I bet Jennifer has great taste — whatever color scheme she decides, I’m sure it will be beautiful. It sounds like you two are wasting no time here….a wedding sooner than later? Maybe? Everything will work out, they usually do. Don’t give Jennifer a hard time about the color scheme or you’ll have both of us to deal with. :) With everything you two have going on, I can’t even imagine planning a wedding too. Hey Jesse, let her plan the wedding…you plan the honeymoon. Trust me, I wish I had that choice. I would have much rather planned a honeymoon than all the things that go into a wedding. I haven’t really seen any of your work before ‘House,’ but you do such an amazing job on this show. One that particularly impressed me was the scene in “Forever,” where the baby, Michael, died, and you were praying over it’s dead body while performing the autopsy. As a pretty religious person myself, that scene was amazing and moving. The character of Chase is very complex, and I continue to be impressed at your ability to convey so many emotions through facial expressions and acting. It’s a great show, and you and the rest of the cast are doing excellent work. And huge congratulations on the engagement. That is awesome. First of all, I want to say congratulations to your engagement. The two of you make such a cute couple (and, of course, a great one too! No doubt about that.).
Anyway, I saw how you played Niel in Uptown Girls - which was really nice, by the way - and comparing it to your role as Dr. Chase, I would say you did a great job on the latter. You’re better off playing as a doctor. Personal preference anyway. But hey, it’s your call. :)

In regards to the question about the spoof on “House”, I’m not sure whether or not I’ve seen it as there are so many parodies out there. I don’t pay much attention to them because I know they’re just meant to be funny.
As for the wedding, we are still undecided. Most of our mutual friends and Jennifer’s family are in the States, so we’re leaning towards getting married here. Plus we have friends from the show that may not be able to take time off and travel to Australia. Either way, I reckon it’ll be a spectacular wedding.

Hi Jesse
These probably seem like two very random comments but I thought I’d add them anyway.
First, your portrayal of Chase in House and how well the character is written are amazing. My fiancée sadly has a pretty similar family history to what has been shown of Chase’s on the show and he always gets choked up when family stuff to do with your character is shown.
Second, I work as a scientist in a large hospital’s pathology department. We always joke about medical shows and how awkward most of the actors seem delivering the medical-related lines. We’re completely stumped with Jennifer Morrison though - she always delivers the lines perfectly. It’s striking to see someone on a TV show talking like they really ARE a doctor, with the right emphasis, tone and pronunciation. She’s a great actress and she must be damn smart to get it right like that. House is easily the best show at the moment with regards to that but she really stands out.
Good luck with the wedding planning! I’m engaged and we’re planning our wedding in NZ from Australia and I know it’s hard getting people we know from both countries to the ceremony.

Hello again!
I apologize for not being able to reply for awhile, I’ve been very busy. To answer Liza’s question, I think my parents were a bit dissapointed when I decided not to go to medical school, but they support me and always remind me how proud they are. With regards to wedding plans, we’ve decided we want a orange and purple wedding (and by ‘we’ I mean Jennifer) but I don’t mind, she has such great taste I’m sure anything she choses will be beautiful. We have finally agreed that the wedding will be in America so that all of our friends from ‘House’ and Mandi and Jennifer’s family can attend. Of course, my family is happy to come here for the wedding. For many of them it will be their first trip to the USA! I reckon it will be in the early winter months of this year because that’s one of the few times we get some time off. Then we’ll take our honeymoon around Christmas time. We’re thinking Vegas! I’ve never been, but Jennifer assures me it will be a lot of fun. Haven’t picked out my tux yet, but I hear Jennifer’s dress is gorgeous.

You have a great sense of humor! Orange and purple is an interesting color combination and I hope to see some photos to see how it all comes together. They are nice fall/winter colors. It is interesting that you say that you get time off in the winter and I would have thought that summer would have given you more time. I just am so excited for you two. Jesse, your family will like it here, although it will be tough to leave the warm Australian weather for the chillier weather here at that time of year. I am confident you will love Vegas, everyone usually does. You will have more fun than humans are allowed to have there (and you deserve it) and with Jennifer by your side, what more could you ask for? I know Jennifer will not steer you wrong! Could you do me a huge favor? Please tell Jennifer that I have received the autographed photograph of her. What a great surprise! I know it is a publicity thing that her staff sends out, but it really made my day (and my son’s). She is truly a first-class lady. And I know this is your site, not Jennifer’s but I know no other way to reach her quite as quick as through you. I agree with Rebecca above, the name Jennifer Spencer does sound like she was born with it! Even Jennifer Morrison Spencer sounds great too.

You do an amazing job and add something really special to the Dr. House series, keep it up! I noticed that there are several episodes which show Dr. Chase in a religious context (prayers, bible quotes, etc.). Was this difficult for you to play or can you personally identify with Christian faith? Sorry, it’s a very intimate question, but I just wondered, because this is a very interesting aspect of the series as you don’t often find faith treated in such a respectful way in TV these days.

Hello!!
I have been quite busy with the show and all so I haven’t been able to reply lately. First of all, Jennifer is adamant that I correct myself. As I previously stated our wedding color sheme is purple and orange, however, Jen has informed me that purple and orange are not the same as mauve and peach. Although, it all looks the same to me. I think that most guys would agree. Jennifer couldn’t believe that I have led you all to think that we would have a wedding that looks like a circus.
In regards to some of your questions. I would have to say that my favorite TV show at the moment is 24. I don’t have time to watch it every week but I try to record it on Tivo whenever I remember.
About faith in the show, I look at the faith aspect from the point of view of Robert Chase, not my own. That way I can act in the scene with the appropriate emotion without letting my own beliefs hinder my performance. The key to good acting is to embrace the character, which is what I try to do as much as possible in the show.
And about bloopers, you’re right, they’re definately out there. I really don’t have much say in the editing of those extra features, but I’m sure theres more than enough and some ought to make it onto the DVDs.

Jesse…I can barely see, I have tears in my eyes that was so funny. Mauve and peach now that sounds like Jennifer. I can see that Jen has her hands full with you — Hey Jen, you still have time…you are not married yet…this is just the beginning — and I am, of course, just kidding. I am glad that you did correct yourself because I kept wondering how that was going to come together. And yes, most guys would agree. So Jesse, you come by it honestly. Hope you two have a great holiday weekend and get a chance to relax some.
By the way, House is really heating up. The story line is great, as usual. And Chase and Cameron, what can I say — fantasic! I know the season is coming to a close and I’m sure you can’t wait, but I can’t bear to think about it! Oh well, I need to catch some of the re-runs during the summer anyway because there are a couple of episodes I missed.

I have been doing some research about House’s episodes and as a Chameron (Chase and Cameron) shipper I am surprised with all the stuff I have found.But I have a doubt - In the end of Airborne,Chase says something to Cameron but I can’t really get the meaning.Was Chase proposing to Cameron or something like that?I’d be happy if you could answer this question.And will there be any Chameron moments after Airborne?I’m doing a movie and I’d be happy to know.

Jesse,
Just found this and had to chuckle about the orange/purple / mauve/peach thing. I’ve got a couple of friends getting married and it never ceases to amuse me the difference in the details that one gets from the bride to be versus the groom to be.
I love that “House” has Real characters that are multifacteted, it seems hard to find shows like that.
What I love most about really phenonmial actors/actresses is the ability to completely capture a character- without necessarily using words. Gestures, facial expressions, Tone…. it just amazes me. Sometimes I think that people look at it like a person needs a “look” and the ability to memorise and that is it.
Anyway… I started watching the show toward the end of the first season because of Hugh (Blackadder fan), but the characters hooked me. And I really feel like the entire cast has just gotten better and better. To where I am feeling now that I’m still getting the characters even when the “spotlight” isn’t on a particular character. Thank you.

I just got back from a short trip to Palm Spings to celebrate Jen’s birthday. (That was my gift to her by the way).
With regards to the question about the end of the episode ‘Airborne’, Chase is simply saying that he wants more of a relationship then Cameron is willing to commit to. I really enjoy this new aspect of my character because he’s never really been that emotionally attached to someone in the show before and I like discovering a new side of Chase.
Kayla, I would love to be able to meet all my fans but unfortunately my busy schedule doesn’t allow much time for that. But just knowing that such wonderful, loyal fans exsist helps me to go to work everyday and portray a convincing and dynamic character.

I have to agree that it’s nice to see another side of Chase actually and I think I’ve definately grown more attached to his character as a result. I’ve always been a fan of House and Cameron (the characters and the relationship :P) and I thought any kind of relationship between Cameron and Chase would be funny simply because she’s so into House and Chase is so easily manipulated lol but I actually found that when Cameron ‘dumped’ Chase I was somewhat sad (and I must say, Cameron looked quite sad about it too! haha)… I personally thought that that relationship brought out interesting aspects of both characters, and this season in general has definately helped develop all the characters, which I love.
I have to ask though, was it weird portraying the whole ‘friends with benefits’ concept between Chase and Cameron? I’ve always thought it must be kind of funny to have scenes like that with an off-screen partner…

I was actually a bit surprised that things weren’t thus far as messy as they might have been (re: Chase/Cameron storyline thus far). It has definately been very interesting.
To “piggy-back” on the question asked by Rebecca, do you find it more difficult to play the emotions that lead contrary to what you would feel about your relationship, or the ones that are parallel? And I would have to think that it would be very odd to have scenes where there is some of Both involved- as opposed to purely one way or the other.
And if it isn’t too much trouble (and if she has time and wouldn’t mind) I’d love to get a little of Jen’s perspective re: that also.
Oh… and if I could be a total dork and ask something that I’m sure you’ve been asked a million times… what episode/storyline (obviously of the released ones) has been the most difficult for you to connect with your character with?

Hello everyone!
I’ll start by trying to answer some of your questions.
In response to Rebecca and Tricia, I think that it’s a lot easier to have a relationship with someone on the show because your lines are all written for you and you don’t have to worry as much about making it work. Of course, real-life relationships are a lot harder. However, since on the show the relationship between Jennifer and I is slightly different than our real relationship, it’s a lot easier not to mix up where Chase and I differ in our personalities and lives. If the storyline had been closer to that of our real relationship I think it would have been a lot harder to differienciate between my relatioship with Jen and the relationship I am trying to portray with Cameron.
Joana, I know whwere Portugal is but I’ve never been there. The closest I’ve been to Portugal is Spain a few years back, but I’d love to visit Portugal one day.
Also, in “Uptown Girls” I did sing most of my own songs, however, the higher vocals were pre-recorded.

Actually, after Jonathan admitted to this, there was another post by two teenage girls who were mad because he took credit for their prank. They called everyone names and talked trash about us all, so I did just what I promised to do several posts back, and I deleted their post. The actual impersonators were the teenage girls, and they really made fools of themselves.

This type of thing makes me feel like 30somethings (myself included) should not be “fans” of Jesse. Not because of anything that he has done or said but because of the way that some of those fans act.
I was under the false impression that the site was afflilated with the offical show, and since I evidently don’t know Every single fact about Jesse that can be gleaned, I was duped, and I feel stupid for somehow not Knowing.
At any rate- I do thank the person in charge of this site/area/blog/thing for deleting the personal cell phone number of young one teenage poster. It had me Very worried because of predators and I think that it was a very responsible action to edit the post. Thank you!

Hi everyone. Just wondering if Jesse and/or Jennifer had anything to do with the Chase and Cameron stroyline in House? I know I am just volunteering for criticism for this one, but I have to say it- although I love Jesse and Jennifer as a couple in “real life”, on the show, I didn’t like the characters together. There’s something predictable to me about the two young, good-looking characters on a show having a love-stortyline, especially when the actors are a couple. Personally, I liked House and Cameron together, a nice juxtoposition of characters, I think they really act as foils for eachother. Anyway, I’m a big fan of the show. Let the brilliance continue!

I was see the new project for moview and i will say you must to doing big movies like this not only in House M.D. and you must use your voice because you have it all the pacage for this .A about the house M.D. only the people who is make it that show famous is you and the people with you workng over there .after the leave the show will be have no who to waching this because just the people is like you !

Anyways, I was wondering, as a fellow actress here, what do you find is the main diffrence between stage acting and film/TV? I was just wondering. I’ve only done stage so far. If you don’t answer that’s cool to.

reading these coment from when i was 12 make me laugh it shows me what a loser i was. not that i am in any way shape or form criticizeing you. for you are talented. now i’m 14 and i still watch house but i’m a freshman and have loads of homework and as far as i’m concerned grades are more important than TV. i am in an acting club and i always make everybody laugh it’s great i noticed i have the talent of acting but i’ll never be able to show anybody but my school and other people who live by lake george that will come to see the play. so i’m glad i have this chance can you give me some advice about your success and how you got there. please.

Hey, remember me? I used to post here when I believed it was Jesse who posted here and not those teenagers who didn’t even have a life. How are you all? Anyways, since that post when someone who I think to be Sara disguised them. Congrats to Sara, or we would all have been fooled!
Anyway, about Amanda and Rebecca (those teenagers who impersonated Jesse), I think they deserve a break. No one will ever sue them, and I doubt any court in the world would convict them for anything. My little sister created a profile in a website and she put a photo of a portuguese actress, not to impersonate her, but to say that was her, phisically. Do you think that was impersonating as well?
Anyways, they’re just kids. One day they’ll grow up and understand what they once did. And we need to see the bunch of hysterical fans that we were. Come on, people, Jesse would never come to this site! He’s to busy to do it! And I’m surprised how none of this actually saw this coming!
Anyways, I’m just glad I came here once again. I’ll forgive Amanda and Rebecca if they say they’re sorry. I mean, we all were kids one day right? =)
