Hugh Laurie’s Original Artwork Plate Being Auctioned for Charity
April 29, 2007 by Lynn
Hugh Laurie is participating in a charity effort to help fund research for Parkinson’s Disease. Here’s the official word:
PLATES FOR PARKINSON’S – More than 30 celebrities have designed and autographed plates to be auctioned on EBAY from April 20 to May 5 as a fundraiser for the Parkinson Society Maritime Region in Canada. Proceeds from the auction will benefit research, education and support services. The tulip is the Society’s symbol of hope and April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month. More than 1.2 million people in Canada and the US live with Parkinson’s for which there is no known cause or cure. All plates are approximately 9 inches in diameter and have been designed using Staedtler permanent markers.
You can go make a bid on eBay here. Hurry! The auction ends on May 7th!
(Thanks again, Bibbet!!)

Your site is WONDERFUL! I’m so glad I found you! I search ebay for Charities supported by Hugh Laurie but this great cause and item didn’t show up. I would never have known if it weren’t for you! Thanks so much,
Lydia French
Hugh’s plate is bringing in quite a lot of cash!
Unless I missed a bigger seller already, his is the top fundraiser–so far over $500 with six days left to go in the auction. I’ll bet he’s pleased…and shocked!
The auction for Hugh’s plate ended today and the winning bid was $4,999.00! Seriously!!
That is awesome. Charities all over are going to be clamoring for Hugh’s artwork now!
Wow! That’s fantastic!!
Thanks for letting us all know!
Wow! That was amazing but also disappointing… I got my husband to agree that the plate could double as my Mother’s Day and 14th Anniversary present and by the last day I was high bidder with $1,500. Next time I looked 30 minutes to go… whoosh! It had more than tripled my sorry little bid! I’m continuing to checked site because i agree! I think charities will try and hopefully convince him to donate more. He’s always been very dedicated to putting his fame to good use! Such a sweetie!
