Kal Penn Will Speak at Washington University in St. Louis, MO
October 23, 2007 by Lynn
House fans, so far, know him as #6/9. But his name is really Kal Penn and he’s an accomplished actor. And while we’re waiting to see his character’s fate on House, he’ll be addressing students at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri about cultural stereotypes. The event will be part of the Assembly Series at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. Here’s an excerpt from the Washington U. newspaper:
In his talk, “An Afternoon with Kal Penn,” he will examine how popular culture can change perceptions and how it demands participation from the audience.
He will give a glimpse into the entertainment industry, which he says remains full of prejudices, archaic politics and misguided casting directors.
He will ask serious questions and address the cultural and racial stereotypes that plague American culture and what can be done to challenge them.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 935-5285 or visit assemblyseries.wustl.edu.
