Last week, Hugh Laurie made a speedy trip home for the long weekend to attend to “family business.” When he returned to the US, someone snapped these candid photos of him in LAX on October 28:

I love the guy like crazy, but he really looks kinda freaked out in that close up one. Give the man some damn privacy, people. Damn.
PLEASE DON’T post photos like these taken from the paparazzi!! You can CLEARLY see that HUGH dispises it. If we don’t look at them, the paps have nothing to sell.

I’ve got to agree with sentiments already posted. I was 99% certain when I saw the heading that “candid” was going to actually mean “paparazzi”. Hugh really doesn’t look like he’s interested in having his picture taken. He looks like he’s just trying to make his way through the airport and mind his own business. That said, I do think a hat that wasn’t orange would have helped him remain a shade less conspicuous. I’d look at anybody wearing an orange hat, whether I wanted to or not. The color would automatically draw the eye, I’m pretty sure. Go for black next time, Hugh.
*giggles* as much as he obviously doesn’t want to be photographed, i can’t help laughing at his ridiculous getup XD
Does a picture have to be taken of everything and every move this man makes!? Leave him alone! He shouldn’t have to wear anything to hide himself! People should just have some manners and leave him alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the subject of pap photos (sounds a little nasty, eh? maybe it’s an unfortunate contraction for paparazzi. better make it pprzi photos
), I feel sorry for Hugh, but…yes, the great but… debate. He’s a celebrity. They ALL get photographed doing mundane things. Some of them like the attention, but most of them don’t. And yet, they survive, somehow. It comes with the job. I pity Hugh, sure, and wish they wouldn’t hound him, but I think that going so far as to boycott pprzi photos is ridiculous. I’m sure Hugh, with his perfect sense of humor and modesty, would agree, and would be quite embarrassed by the the huge fuss we’re making over this. (Let the hate mail start…now!)
Well, he’s hardly inconspicous in that ridiculous bright hat! You want to be successful, be careful what you wish for.
Ok, folks, I’m weighing in on why I posted this. First off, I never pay for these things. I got this from a fan forum (notice the source link.) And I never take them myself either. The photos already exist and are being circulated on the ‘net.
My job is to give you as much information about the show, the cast (including Hugh…) and anything else relevant that I can. And a lot of this site’s readers like to see these photos.
I understand Hugh’s dislike for being photographed, but know that it’s inevitable. What am I to do? If my readers mostly want to see the photos, and they are already out there and free, I feel an obligation to those folks to share them.

Lynn, I never thought you personally took the pictures or paid for them. Don’t know what you think of how I’d go about deciding whether or not to post but this is what I’d do: I’d only post pictures that didn’t look intrusive. These current pics clearly look (to me at least) like he’s pretty bothered about the whole thing. Too close for comfort.
I’m totally with you, Lynn. The pictures have already been taken, right? Nobody’s gonna leave Hugh alone, just because we don’t post their photos. There’s always going to be a market for celeb photos, that only stops when they are no longer celebs. And much as I love Hugh…I still want him to be in successful shows and movies!

While I’m all for giving man some privacy I think it is important to point out 3 things a)his show is extremely popular and with that paps are a normal thing
b)when you think about it, he was spared from them more then most cos he does keep a low profile and
c)he is from England you know how merciless the tabloids are there? They spare noone.
So I dont think Lynn did a particularly bad thing… if it was a pic with his children or something, then I’d object…
Anyhow I just hope his family and Hugh himself are ok… oh and I know the subject of the blog is House, but if you do want to see Hugh in all his dufus glory check out either Jeeves and Wooster or Black Adder… you will love it
No one said that Lynn did a bad thing. I just think if people want to see these paparazzi photos, they should go elsewhere. IMHO
I’m relieved he’s back! I know that the constant snapping of photos is undoubtably a bother for Hugh but I imagine he’s probably used to it by now. I admit to being selfish but I enjoy seeing him in any photo I can. Sorry…
