House Episode 4.11 – Frozen – Recap
February 3, 2008 by Lynn
The show began with a man at the South Pole fixing a generator out in the Antarctic cold, when a blade from a broken windmill flew into his leg and severed the femoral artery. He called for help and a woman rushed out to help him in to a tunnel, hurriedly cut open his pants leg, squirted glue to seal the artery and wrapped the thigh in duct tape. Then, when she was trying to help him up, she collapsed and started to throw up. She said she needed help, but he asked her, “Who am I supposed t get?”

Cuddy walked into a patient’s room to find House, standing on a chair, trying to tune the patient’s TV.
Cuddy: Why do I even give you an office? New case. Psych Department asked for you personally.
House: The patient’s a crazy person?
Cuddy: You’re a crazy person. The patient’s a psychiatrist.
House: Something wrong with killing a guy’s cable.
Cuddy: (looks at the unconscious patient) He seems fine with it. Your patient is an adjunct faculty member but currently… (House bangs on the side of the TV) The budget committee voted to charge for cable in the patient rooms.
House: (rolls eyes) Slippery slope! Today, we withhold porn, tomorrow it’s clean bandages.
Cuddy: Talk to Carlson, he runs the budget committee…After you look at this. (hands him the file.)
House: After you talk to Carlson, maybe I’ll…
Cuddy: The patient is trapped at the South Pole.
(follow the jump for the rest)
Suddenly, House was more interested and started to look at the patient’s file.
House and the team began to discuss the patient’s situation. House told them that the winds at the South Pole would prevent her leaving or anyone flying in for several months. They batted around several possible diagnoses, then House told them:

House: This is where it gets fun. These are the supplies she has available. (dumps the contents of a box onto the table.)
Down in the ER, House tried to convince Cameron to take up his cause about the cable in coma guy’s room.
House: Coma guy needs cable. Women’s billiards is the only thing that’s keeping him alive.
Cameron: I’m sure Carlson will be moved by his plight.
House: Carlson won’t help. He says I hit on his wife.
Cameron: You knew?
House: I thought I was hitting on his daughter. Look, you’re on the committee, he’ll listen to you. I’m an avid reader of Committees With Hotties message boards. Studies in major hospitals determined that happy patients recover faster. Studies conducted in my apartment show that TV makes people happy. Premium channels have a particularly striking affect.
Cameron: Charging patients for cable is bringing in $13,000 a month.
House: Until this injustice is righted, I’m going to waste $13,000 a day. (dumps out a full box of fresh tongue depressors.) It’s $2.49 down. (he starts pulling rubber gloves out of a box and tossing them on the floor, one by one.) How much is $13,000 divided by 4 cents?
House came into a room where the team was talking via Hi Definition closed circuit TV with the psychiatrist at the South Pole. He then sent the doclings to the ER to find something he could blackmail Cameron with.
House: As far as you know, this is way more than some silly battle over cable.
At the South Pole, she tried a test to see if the equipment she has could be used to break up a kidney stone. It failed miserably. She then got into a bantering session with House.
House: You do realize that only one of us is a real doctor?
Patient: You do realize that only one of us has any control over my actions?
They bantered some more and she flipped off the monitor.
House: She’s a great psychiatrist. One session and I’ve got shrinkage.
The new doclings did as they were told and went to the ER to spy on Cameron. While they were gone, Foreman & House discussed test results with the patient. Just then, she started to breathe rapidly and they determined that one of her lungs was collapsing. They told her to get a syringe and needle. House instructed her how to reinflate her own lung.
Foreman & House continued to talk to the patient and decided that it was possible that she had cancer. House instructed her to x-ray her entire body. She told him she would upload the images when she was done and flipped off the monitor.

House: She’s annoying. She refused to take the antibiotics because she said that other people might need them.
Wilson: She says she cares about other people? What a poser! You don’t like her because she’s a psychiatrist.
House: I’m a complicated man. I loath her for many reasons.
Wilson and House discussed possible ways she could take a biopsy and stain it for examination.
Wilson: That makes sense.
House: That makes sense?
Wilson: I said it first.
House: In a shockingly calm manner. After I’ve just been jerking you around for 30 seconds…without you complaining or analyzing said jerking.
Wilson: I was being mature.
House: In a lavender shirt. You, for some reason, are happy.
Wilson: How dare you!
House: You’re wearing that shirt for someone.
Wilson: The health department. They frown on topless oncology.
House was in his apartment, talking to the patient about her need to give herself a physical exam. She told him she would not do it until he showed her his apartment. He turned the laptop and showed her around the place. The bantering continued.

Patient: How bad is the insomnia? Let me quantify that. Do you drink two or three scotches before passing out in front of the TV?
House: You are so far off. It’s bourbon.
Patient: No photos anywhere. Family and friends aren’t important?
House: Well, you’re sick. You’ve got 20 people down the hall and you’ve had exactly one visitor.
Patient: I don’t want to panic anyone.
House: You don’t like people. You hide on that ice cube so…
Patient: Stop projecting. You’re antisocial so you assume I’m antisocial?
House: How about if I just get naked and you shut up?
Patient: If I thought I could get you naked, I would have led with that. You’d rather show me you soul than your leg.
House: Great. You’ve got me all figured out. Are you going to try to fix me now?
Patient: I never said you needed fixing.
Whoa! You can feel the chemistry between them. House seemed to be attracted to her because she can’t be manipulated. She saw him for who he is. It obviously intrigued him. Wilson called it House’s version of courtship.
Foreman: Oh, God! He’s been wooing me for years!
Wilson: She’s the perfect woman for him. She’s willing to literally go to the ends of the Earth for her career, making her unavailable for a real relationship. And, she’s afflicted with a mysterious illness.
House sat back on his sofa with a fire burning in the fireplace and watched the patient strip down and begin her exam. He started to play seductive music to “help her relax.” (LOL!) She found a swollen lymph node in her abdomen.
House: Looks like you’re doing a biopsy.
Wilson & House looked on and prepared to talk her through it.

House: C’mon, Kate, let’s get this over with.
Wilson: (muted the sound) You used her name!
House: Just trying to move things along, Bob.
She numbed the area with ice, then inserted a syringe needle and withdrew some fluid from the swollen node.
House: You ok?
Kate: Yeah.
Wilson looked puzzled.
In the elevator, Wilson confronted House about the question.
Wilson: Are you ok?
House: It’s a valid medical question.
Wilson: I have never heard you ask a patient that question. You’ve never asked me that question and you’ve seen me fall down a flight of stairs drunk. (stares at House) You’ve slept with her.
House: She’s 9,000 miles away.
Wilson: Somehow, you’ve been intimate with her. Why are you following me?
House: I thought you were following me.
Wilson: No, you were definitely following me.
House: Where are you going?
Wilson: Out to lunch.
House: You never go out to lunch. Unless there’s a reason you’re going out to lunch, I assume that reason is a human being.
Wilson: To order a sandwich.
House: Sandwiches can come here.
Wilson: So can human beings.
House: Yet, she’s not, which I find interesting.
Wilson: I’m leaving.
House: Small world.
Wilson: Are you going to follow me into my car.
House: It’s got two doors.
Wilson: Ok, look…the reason I haven’t told you is… (turns and runs out the door)
Cameron found House and told him that she was tired of his team harassing her and she had resigned from the budget committee so she no longer had any influence over the hospital’s cable policy. She walked away grinning.
House found the team and told them to step up the harassment of Cameron.

Wilson worked with the patient to look at the lymph tissue under the microscope. He told her she didn’t have cancer. Her pain began to increase.

House went home to communicate with the patient. He sat without his pants while he talked to her about possible diagnoses. She refused to take prednisone because if she used it up and the person there that had asthma had an attack, he would die. She wanted proof it would help before she would take it.
Wilson, Foreman & House devised a way for her to check for autoimmune disorder.
Cuddy talked to House & Forman in the cafeteria. She told them that she had to fire Cameron because she made a mistake with a patient. She said that Taub had caught the mistake and saved the patient. House seemed disinterested in Cameron’s firing. Forman was upset and House told him that Cuddy wasn’t telling the truth about firing her. House said that cuddy was conspiring with her coworkers to show him that there are more important things than cable. He said that he would have to show them they were wrong.
The test was negative and Foreman told the patient that she could go outside to see if the pain decreased. House didn’t want her to because he thought it might not be safe. Just as she was getting ready to go outside, she passed out.
She slipped into a coma and the station mechanic started her on prednisone, with no improvement. Foreman, Wilson & House were in the elevator.
Wilson: And, where are we going?
House: To find the useful members of my team. Because of you, I’m not going to be able to watch Law & Order in Korean.
Wilson: Why am I here?
House: Because I want to ask you about your girlfriend. I must know who she is or you would have told me her name.
Wilson: She doesn’t have a name, it’s some sort of birth defect.
House: There’s about twelve people we both know. I can’t remember about five of their names. Son we’re down to Cuddy, your ex wives…
Wilson: Your mama… (walks out of the elevator – LOL!)
House realized that the mechanic could drink the patient’s urine and tell by the taste what was wrong with her. (YIKES!)
House realized that the mechanic was in love with her because he didn’t hesitate about helping her, no matter what he had to do.
House was upset with his team.
House: You cost a woman her job. There’s only one thing you can say to keep me from firing you.
Thirteen: Cameron wasn’t fired.
House: Wrong!
Taub: You know?
Kutner: We’re still fired?
House: That should be a hint as to what you’re supposed to say.
Taub: We’re sorry.
House: Wrong.
Kutner: I love you.
House: Wrong.
Thirteen: This is a game? First we have to screw with our coworker, then we have to figure out what you want us to say. This is insane, I’m not playing.
House: Right. You should have said this two days ago.
He told them that they needed to stop playing games, learn to stand up to him and go pay for his cable.
At the South Pole, the mechanic tasted the urine and House told him that the results meant that he would have to drill a hole in her skull. The mechanic said he couldn’t do it. House told him that if he loved her, he would do it to save her.

Foreman & House talked the mechanic through drilling the hole in her skull. As the fluid drained out, she regained consciousness.

House gathered the team to discuss other diagnoses, when Kutner suggested something House disagreed with. Kutner stood his ground and House had the mechanic check her feet. As it turned out, she had a broken toe. She hadn’t been able to feel it because of the cold. Her bone marrow had been leaking into her blood stream and caused blockages. The talked the mechanic through setting her broken toe.
House: Splint your toe. You’ll be fine.
Kate: Thank you, House.
House: (nodding at the mechanic.) Don’t thank me. He’s the one that saved your life.
She hugged the mechanic and House turned off the monitor.
Wilson was in a restaurant, waiting for his date. House walked in and sat down.
House: You didn’t pick her up, which means, she’s coming from work too. Which means that you’re comfortable enough to meet her.
Wilson: Damn! I thought I lost you when I walked backwards through my own footprints in the snow.
House: I think I’ve got it narrowed down to three possibilities.
Wilson: You’d better leave. If you see her, it would be cheating.
House: It’s not one of your ex-wives…
Wilson: Because they hate me.
House: They don’t. They should, but they don’t. I called them. Someone new…but someone I know.
Wilson: did you ever consider being happy for me?
House: Briefly. You ordering the wine before she got here.
Wilson: Girls are good, House, and you know it. You solved your case because you cared about that girl.
House: Demonstrating the illusion of manly confidence. It means that you haven’t closed the deal yet.
Wilson: I closed the deal. I just like her.
House: Still?
Wilson: You knew your patient hated having cold feet. Because you did a physical exam. Because you liked her.
House: The theory is that I cared, so I let her keep her socks on. If that’s what love is, I don’t want to have anything to do with it.
Wilson: It starts with warm feet, but leads to other things. Your Mom & I’ll explain when you’re older.
House: If I had made her take them off like I should have I would have seen the toe and would have solved the case days ago.
Wilson: But, you don’t care about her.
Just then, Amber (cutthroat bitch) walked up to the table.
Amber: Of course not. House doesn’t care about anyone.
She kissed Wilson and said she was sorry for being late. House looked bewildered.

House: Cutthroat Bitch?
Wilson: I call her Amber. Was she on your list?
The look on House’s face as the credits began was priceless! And then, the preview for next week was hilarious!
I loved this episode! We got to see House smitten with someone. It’s a very refreshing thing!
What did you think of the episode? What are your thoughts about Wilson dating Amber? Leave a comment to share your thoughts!
tv, Television, house tv, House, Omar Epps, jennifer morrison, robert sean leonard, Lisa Edelstein, Anne Dudek, hugh laurie, Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Peter Jacobson

LOVED the episode and all the Wilson/House banter.
Don’t care for Wilson dating CTB…..just don’t like her.
So sad that there is just one episode left.
Your mama!!
i don’t care anymore. i honestly do not care anymore. Cam got fired,
E, Cam didn’t really get fired.
Loved the whole House/Dr. Cate thing. I hope they bring Ms. Sorvino back!
What a episode !!! I loved it
this was predictable, CTB Return, it’s like the sequel of a very bad movie,
dont’ care anyway, CTB isn’t interesting
I predict that House will “seduce” Cut Throat Bitch into having sex with him, then tell Wilson that she’s no good.
After watching a rerun from season two I was reminded of how fantastic the show was. All of the reasons I loved it, Chase, Cameron, Wilson, and the “old” Foreman giving House well written characters to play off of. I miss the old chemistry, I’m not feeing it with the new crew at all.
One of the BEST episodes of this series! I loved the chemistry between Cate and House and the challenge of diagnosing someone who’s half a world away. I also thought the whole GET ME CABLE thing with the new ducklings was a rite of passage for the three. They’re FINALLY standing up to him!
OH! AND! WILSON KISSED SOMEONE!!!!!! ASDKFAJLDFJ;!!! (even if it was CTB. :-\)
Fantastic episode, the only up-to-standard one of Season 4 so far. I don’t like bringing CTB back, but it was very well done and I think it’ll be an exciting turn of events. But if Mira Sorvino doesn’t return to Princeton Plainsboro in, say, the season finale and hook up with House, I will be very angry indeed.
i was sooo happy went i saw that cameron got more scene but sad that chase didn’t get any!
Impatient for next weeks’ episode.
And how many do we have left?? NOT ENOUGH, THAT’S HOW MANY! But I was excited to see House’s emotions. And disappointed that he still isn’t getting any that he doesn’t have to pay for. Sad, sad. I know everyone is upset about Cameron and Chase not getting much air time, but as much as I loved the old team, I would be MUCH more disappointed if Wilson left or spent less time on there. Hope CTB doesn’t pose too big of a problem. I was rather excited when they got rid of her. But… should be interesting…
eh.. dont really like the idea of wilson hooking up with CTB… she’s not interesting… i liked it better when she was out of the picture.. :-/
but, i’ll still be my favorite show of allll time! <3 =D
