David Morse Speaks About His Role on House
March 26, 2008 by Lynn
Fellow House fan Grace sent me this little tidbit of information David Morse gave to TVGuide.com about his time on House last season:
TVGuide.com: How did it feel to stick it to Hugh Laurie’s curmudgeon on House?
Morse: [Laughs] Right now it feels painful because there are so many people who hold it against me! I had worked with David Chase, who ran Hack, and when they came up with the idea of a character who could stand up to Hugh Laurie’s character, he called me to see if I would be interested. I had not watched the show, so I mentioned it to some people I was with, and they said, “You have to do it!” It is such an unbelievable show and this character frankly needs somebody to go after him and put him in his place. So I said I’d give it a shot. It truly was great fun. Hugh is just amazing, and he really is a formidable character to go up against.

David Morse is such a good actor. I wish he would find a show that would showcase him like Hugh’s does.
He sure made me hate him!
David Morse is an excellent and amazing actor, he played so naturally well Tritter’s character that I only can say Bravo!
I didn’t like Tritter but I admire D.Morse.
Lynn, is there a way to pass this message to him?
Thanks
Mr. Morse’ portrayal of George Washington in the HBO film John Adams was the most accurate interpretation of Washington’s demeanor and personality I have seen.
I am a fan of David, he is a really good actor.
I really trying for some years to get a contact with him, but the problem is that i am from Israel and every mail i sent turned back :(.
If there any chance to give me a correct address or some thing i will be very grateful
“Detective Officer” Michael Tritter is nothing but a crook with a tarnished badge who’s so repressionistic and so self-righteous that he thinks–wrongly!–that he can be another Eliot Ness, and refuses to confess either that it was liquor prohibition that made Al Capone what he became or that it was income tax evasion, NOT bootlegging, that finally brought Capone down. This atrocious choice of roles will be held against David Morse for the remainder of his career!
I’ve been a David Morse fan since St. Elsewhere! I’ve pretty much seen everything he’s done.
He was the perfect physical choice to butt heads with House; just a smidgen taller, with a wonderful knack in making such a gentle looking face as his and twisting it into hard-a$$ detectiveTritter — one tough SOB! (much the same knack Hugh has displayed in his House character).
Also Twitters calm, cool & collected, though arrogant & self-righteous, manner was a terrific counter-point to House’s arrogant, self-righteous but increasingly stubborn, self-destructive and desperate behavior.
Superb! The Tritter arc remains among my very favorite of House’ episodes.
So people felt hatred for Tritter?? Then I guess Morse did one hell of a convincing performance, didn’t he? KUDOS.
