The House / Hameron / Huddy Question

House fans, you aren’t the only ones with opinions about who would be best for House to get romantic with. TV Guide’s Matt Roush answers this question from a fellow fan:
Question: I know there is to be a division of ’shippers in any fan base, but I have to say, I just don’t get the Hameron ’shippers on House. I was a Hameron ’shipper all the way through the second season, but right now it seems not only unlikely, but also out of character. House pays prostitutes for sex and even slept with a married woman, so we know that he has very little qualms about getting his rocks off when he feels like it. So why would House not have had sex with the beautiful Cameron when he had the chance all the way back in Season 1? I think he knew, given her feelings for him, that it would be wrong to do so while having absolutely no feelings for her — one of the few decent things he’s ever done. Also, Cameron is clearly not House’s type. I’m not saying House doesn’t care about her on some level, but I really think it’s in more of a fatherly way, despite his inappropriateness towards her (and all females). He’s nurtured her into being a much better doctor and, quite frankly, less of a wimp. They are just completely wrong for each other romantically. I think, if anyone, Doctor Cuddy is more of his type. Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein have great chemistry, and their scenes together are funny and interesting. I’m looking forward to that being explored next year, and I can only hope that it doesn’t end too soon for the writers to satisfy the vocal Hameron minority. That would be a shark-jump.— Reina
Matt Roush: And you think I’m going to jump into the middle of this debate why? You’d think the fact they’ve marginalized Cameron so much this season would have already put the kibosh on the notion of ingénue and former mentor becoming a serious item. But Cuddy and House? So much more fun to contemplate, not that I’m pining for the grouchy doc to get serious (if that’s even possible) with any of the regulars. Personally, I still miss Sela Ward.

Okay, I’ll start (at the risk of a lot of devoted shippers yelling at me)…. of course House isn’t going to get with Cameron, for all the reasons stated above… and because she isn’t what House wants in a partner, as gorgeous as she is, she isn’t nearly strong enough or sassy enough to compete with his extraordinary brain and adolescent antics… as for House and Cuddy, well, that’s a lot closer to possible but I’m not sure House would ever give his ‘boss’ that kind of sexual power over him… and just like Matt, I miss Sela Ward as Stacy, that was completely House’s style.. (even though their on-screen chemistry needed a little more time to settle out… it was still a bit awkward…). I say, in the final episode of Season 7, as the series finale, House and Stacy get discovered together again. :)

Okay, lets face it — House isn’t going to settle down in a romantic relationship with either Cameron OR Cuddy — or anyone, for that matter. A happy House — would not be very House - like. If anything, House will find love at the very last episode of the show.
Although hot, crazy love making in Cuddy’s office does seem like it might happen, given all their sexual tension. But an actual relationship? Not gonna happen.

I would love to see House with Cuddy, but i don’t think it would last long, tough

As a Hameron Fan, I didn’t mind if House and Cuddy hooked up but my only problem is that the way they wrote Cuddy. In season 1 she was a strong woman who could say No to House and although there was some chemisty there was no indication of a love match. Now, throughout the seasons of House and as the “Chemistry” between her and House has evolved, she has become a doormat. I’d would support Huddy if it was season 1 Cuddy. At lease Cameron has evolved from naive to a great doctor.

I definitely miss Stacey…they were so right for each other! I am just hoping that Sela Ward will come back for at least 1 episode!

Sela Ward was great, but they’ve definitively closed off that road. It would be odd to bring her back now. The Cameron thing is overplayed, and should have achieved closure long ago- however, I think they WILL eventually have hot sex once, which will totally screw up their relationship forever. In order for that to happen, though, something has to change between them- maybe House’s amnesia? A drug-influenced hookup, like Cam/Chase in S.2? And the same thing goes for Huddy. The way their relationship is now, they can’t just have them randomly start making out. It wouldn’t make any sense. I think Kate from Frozen is the best prospect right now. She should come back- maybe for a finale ep.- and get together with House.

I agree a happy House isn’t House but House can be with someone and still torture himself. How could he not do that? House and Stacy couldn’t be together because, as Wilson said, House doesn’t want to be happy. I think it’s possible for House to be with someone and still be a curmudgeon. Especially if that person is someone he buts heads with a lot and is likely to fight with often (IE- Cuddy). They get along but don’t at the same time. It’s perfect for him. But I understand how it would get stagnant.

i really didn’t like the stacy arc. i mean the story line was okay, but hugh laurie and sela ward lacked major chemistry. go team huddy!

I may be crazy, but I think House sent Stacy away because after his conversation with Mark in the hospital hallway, and how Cuddy reacted to their relationship in her office when considering surgery for the mom, he actually wanted to do the right thing. Of all people, I would have thought he would have explained this to Wilson, instead of letting Wilson hammer him about always wanting to be miserable. House wanted her, but he also wanted her to be happy, and was willing to give up his own happiness so she could have hers. That’s love. I’m would have liked to see Stacy come back for an episode when House got shot, though.
Huddy would be an interesting and bold gester on the part of the writers. That could be fun.

Hugh and Lisa have excellent chemistry which tranforms into sizzling and sexy scenes when they interact on screen as House & Cuddy. I have been waiting since Season 1 for them to steam up my tv and have hopes it will happen in Season 5.

Buffy, I really would like to know how Cuddy talking about the surgery for the mom was a direct reaction to his relationship with Stacy. I genuinely would because I expected her to say something to him about why it was wrong and she didn’t but if what she said was in any way discouraging it, I’d like to hear your take on it.

reina,
When Cuddy was making fun of him, saying Stacy would “defend the big, mean doctor”, “and although his cane makes me melt, do the damn surgery”, he must have realized that Cuddy might not let it go. She would make fun, Wilson would make ethical remarks, and Mark wanted her back so desperately, he really did not have much choice, did he? I was so sad to see her go.

Thanks. I wasn’t really glad to see her go, honestly thought. I didn’t ship for anyone back then and really had very little feelings about who house should be with but I was kind of tired of her and her flat scenes with Hugh.

House and Cuddy would be a great couple…I was a Hameron fan at the begnning but now I’m totally not!!!I don’t even know why i was….Cuddy and House make each others everything! If that made any sense.I thought Cuddy was jealous when Stacy was there and I wished at one time that she would come back…But now I want House and Cuddy to be together so I don’t want her back!I’m sorry to say that but it is true…I just don’t know how House and Cuddy are going to get together…

well…. I´m a Huddy shipper, always been, always will be.
The thing is. As Cameron said, he couldn´t love her at the 1º and 2º season because he still was stucked with his felling for Stacy, but now, we can see that in a way or another, he let it go. About Cuddy, we see their amazing chemistry since the very first episode. Then, in that episode, Humpy Dumpty, Cameron interrogates Cuddy about why she still haven´t fired House, and her answer is amazing. “The question is not why I still haven´t fired him. Is WHY I hired him.”
Then, in the 3º season, episode “Top Secret” we find out that they have once had an one-night-stand. and now at the 4º season, things are getting hotter than it never was at the other seasons. I think that House does love Cuddy and Cuddy does love House, but they just can´t jump at each other because their relationship boss/employee, what´s really not a big deal for House, though. I believe they will end up together, fighting and forgiving each other all the time. It´s like a fatal desease, starts little, unharmful, until it kills you.
As Christopher Walker sings at “Hairspray” “It´s like a fatal desease, babe, there´s no cure, so let´s this fever rage.” xD

He’s too miserable to last with anyone. Doesn’t matter who he hooks up with. I just hate the way the writer’s have reduced Cuddy to this weak ass puddle that is a total doormat. Her character was much better written in the 1st and 2nd season.

Well, i think House really don´t like Cameron, it´s a fact in this 4th. season. House and Lisa could be a lovely couple!!! I think in the serie is missing a little romance for the all team!!!! All they need is love!!!!!

I don’t really understand Huddy relationship fans. I think the two of them have great chemistry, but that’s it. They don’t make sense together emotionally. While I think they would have hot sex that would be all. She is also too much like Stacey in the strong sarcastic woman department. While I don’t really think Cameron and House will ever get together I think they are a better match because she is so different from Stacey. It would be a completely new experience for house. I guess I also like it cause I heard that Jennifer Morrison and Hugh Laurie had been hoping they writers would put them together.

“I guess I also like it cause I heard that Jennifer Morrison and Hugh Laurie had been hoping they writers would put them together.”
^ True that. I heard/read that somewhere too (just like that thing about Jennifer facing all Hameron fans when she was in Italy :P).
Technically, I can vote for both ships. Hameron AND Huddy.
But I have some views on it. Hameron will mean a break up between Chase and Cameron. That’ll have some ‘emotional’ scenes, as Chase is supposed to really love Cam and such. Then if House and her relationship ends up badly, we’ll have an very, very hurt Cameron. Lot’s of attention to that.
For Huddy.. sure it would be interesting to see those two in an relationship that doesn’t only excist for the sex. But to be fair, I like the chemistry and tention they have going on right now much better. If they have an relationship, these two have a huge chance to ‘go with the flow’.
They either have to get someone that isn’t a series regular or just leave House single forever (but do let him have a kid or w/e, helloooo the House-hood can’t become an endangered species). Even tho I do like one of those two ships.

I prefer Hameron, as much as I like Cuddy sometimes, I don’t think I could stand Huddy. Dunno, there’s just something there that I don’t believe nor do I want to see.
