Band From TV to Headline on “NetFlix LIVE! On Location”

July 29, 2008 by Lynn

netflix-logo.jpgI just got word that NetFlix is sponsoring a free Band From TV concert. It’s part of their outdoor concert and screening series, NetFlix LIVE! On Location! Fans of BFTV can watch them perform on the grounds of the Autry National Center in Los Angeles on August 9 at 7:00 pm.

Band From TVHere’s who will perform that evening: guitarist James Denton (Desperate Housewives), drummer Greg Grunberg (Heroes), rock violinist Jesse Spencer (House) and vocalist Bob Guiney (The Bachelor and Date My House). Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) will sing with the band while Hayden Panettiere (Heroes) will introduce the group and join the players on stage along with Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars and Heroes) and Adrian Pasdar (Heroes). Bob Guiney will pull double duty as a performer and host of the event.

The performance is completely free to the public because Netflix is making a contribution to a variety of charities supported by Band From TV.

“For a lot of us TV is a career, and we love it. However, being able to be on stage and play music is a dream come true,” said James Denton, band member and star of Desperate Housewives. “We are thrilled to bring our two worlds together and share it with so many people for such good causes.”

“We are excited to expand our Netflix LIVE! On Location platform to include a band that embodies the freshness and creativity of TV today,” said Leslie Kilgore, chief marketing officer for Netflix. “Television content is a significant part of the choices we offer at Netflix, so showcasing Band From TV as part of our signature summer series is the perfect way to pay tribute to this important genre while bringing the public entertainment they’ll love.”

After the concert, Netflix will offer an outdoor screening of some of their subscribers’ favorite TV shows including highlights from Desperate Housewives and classics like the Muppets.

Come watch as the Band From TV puts on their largest public performance yet! And just like always, all the proceeds go straight to their charities. So it’s a night of great music, great entertainment and helping worthy causes. What could be better?

Anyway, here’s an
interview Robert Sean Leonard did with TV Guide
where he talks about Anne Dudek leaving House and what he thought of having so many new doctors on the show last season. He even gives some funny predictions about the new season

Another Hugh Laurie Interview About Season 5

July 27, 2008 by Lynn

I just found another great interview TV Guide did with Hugh Laurie. He says that with everyone scrambling to write and create the fall episodes that it’s a bit like, “trying to do a Rubbik’s Cube while falling down stairs.” That’s Hugh for you…always profound. :-)

He also talks about the meaning of irony and about the way House and Wilson were affected by the events in the finale. And best of all, he assures us that all this will not result in a kinder, gentler House. Whew! Thank goodness!

Jesse Spencer Played With Band From TV Last Night

July 27, 2008 by Lynn

I just got a sad tip from House fan Meli Melzzzz from Austria. She checked out the Band From TV’s MySpace site and discovered that Hugh Laurie’s name is no longer listed as a band member. I’m heartbroken! He’s so wonderful in the band!! :-(

But the great news is that Jesse Spencer is still in the band and I just found some photos of him playing with them at the 2nd annual Band From TV Night at Cal State Fullerton last night. I love what his Tshirt says!! :-)
