House Episode 5.14: “The Greater Good” Promos

House Spoilers

Episode 5.14: The Greater Good
Air Date: February 2, 2009

To get us excited about the House 100th episode that will air on Monday, FOX has released a bunch of promo video clips. It looks like things between Foreman & Thirteen are going to get rough and Thirteen is going to have health issues…perhaps even be blinded. And the patient tells why she stopped practicing medicine to work in a restaurant kitchen. I actually can identify with what she says…who among us hasn’t at some time in our life asked ourselves if there was something else that would make us happy? And the fact that Cuddy & House go on some sort of escalating retaliation looks fantastic! This looks like a very cool episode!

And here are the Photos and the Press Release for the episode.

A Bit of Classic Fry & Laurie

January 29, 2009 by Lynn

Thanks to Betsy for the tip about this hilarious bit from early in Hugh Laurie’s career. In the UK, everyone knows that Stephen Fry, who is one of Hugh Laurie’s closest friends to this day, used to be his comedy partner and they had a show called A Bit of Fry & Laurie. During those years, the two performed tons of comic bits and I put one out here every now and then for you to enjoy. This one is new to me. They were guests on another show that I’m not familiar with. I hope you enjoy this Piano Master Class:

Is Cutthroat Bitch Coming Back to “House”?

I know it seems impossible since we saw her die in the season 4 finale of House, but Michael Ausiello tells us that Anne Dudek, aka Amber or Cutthroat Bitch (CTB) may be returning somehow to House.

As a person who quit watching Grey’s Anatomy about the time the goofy ghost aspect started, I truly hope it won’t be anything like that. But how can they make a completely dead character come back to the show? The way I see it, there could be a few options for them:

  • She could be a part of flashbacks for Wilson or House. It’s pretty convoluted, but if it was done properly, it might work…as long as they don’t overwork the whole thing. I don’t want to see a dozen flashbacks per episode!
  • We could find that CTB has an even more evil twin sister who could somehow join the cast to torture House and/or Wilson. I rather like this idea. There are so many things that could be different this time. House might be the one she falls for and it could make the Cuddy dynamic strained… There are just so many possibilities with this option.
  • They could do the cheesy ghost idea, but I think we would all have a fit and protest…
  • On a more ridiculous note, House could come out of a coma induced during the season finale and find that it’s all been a bad dream…this was awful when they did it on the series Dallas years ago. I hope they don’t go this direction. I’ll be truly upset.
  • She could show up as a CTB doppleganger. In other words, a person looking exactly like Amber, but in no way related to her or even aware of her existence. This seems like a real stretch and I hope they don’t do it.

What are some scenarios you can think of? Do you want to see CTB return if they can think of a credible way to do it? Or do you think it’s just too contrived to even consider? Let us know!

Here’s the FOX press release for the next episode of House, the 100th episode. In this episode, I think I most look forward to Cuddy’s retaliation against House. I saw a promo clip (I’m trying to track it down for you) where House trips and falls on his face with the cane sliding across the floor away from him. Since I know he’s not really disabled, it looks like a very funny scene and I know that Hugh Laurie will play it to its most hilarious!

Press Release:
100. A SEMIPERFECT NUMBER. A SEMIPERFECT MAN.
“HOUSE” CELEBRATES MILESTONE 100TH EPISODE
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, ON FOX

The prognosis is excellent for the brilliant, anti-social anti-hero Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) and his colleagues at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital as HOUSE celebrates a milestone 100th episode Monday, Feb. 2 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In the 100th episode, “The Greater Good,” House and the team take on the case of a woman who collapsed in the middle of a cooking class. When they learn that the patient gave up her career as a highly renowned cancer researcher in order to pursue her own personal happiness, the members of the team question their own happiness (or lack thereof). Meanwhile, Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) begins to suffer serious and life-threatening reactions to her experimental Huntington’s Disease clinical drug trial, and Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) retaliates against House and gives him a taste of his own medicine.

Over the course of five seasons, House has proven no bar is too low and has shocked those around him with the lengths he will go in order to prove he’s right – from faking brain cancer to score drugs (“Half Wit”) to pulling a hair out of his father’s corpse to test the DNA (“Birthmarks”) to kidnapping his favorite soap star because he’s convinced the actor has an illness he doesn’t yet realize (“Living the Dream”).

Many notable guest stars have appeared on the show over the last 100 episodes including Academy Award winners Mira Sorvino and Joel Grey; Emmy Award winners Sela Ward, Cynthia Nixon, John Larroquette, Željko Ivanek and Charles S. Dutton; recording artists/actors Dave Matthews, LL Cool J, Brandy and Fred Durst; as well as David Morse, who received an Emmy Award nomination for his role on HOUSE. Other notable appearances include Ron Livingston, Anne Dudek, Carmen Electra, Julie Warner, Greg Grunberg, Chi McBride, Samantha Mathis, Lori Petty, Michael Michele, Jason Lewis, Kurtwood Smith, PRISON BREAK star Dominic Purcell and John Cho, who stars with HOUSE series regular Kal Penn in the “Harold and Kumar” films.

Winner of three Emmy Awards, including an award for creator and executive producer David Shore (Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series), HOUSE has been honored with 17 Emmy Award nominations, including three for Outstanding Drama Series and three for Hugh Laurie (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series). The series received the 2006 Humanitas Prize for the episode “Three Stories” and received two Golden Globe Awards for Laurie (Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series) and [two] Screen Actors Guild Award[s] for Laurie (Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series) as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination (Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series), two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Television Series, Drama, two consecutive People’s Choice Awards for Favorite TV Drama, a People’s Choice Award for Hugh Laurie (Favorite Male TV Star) and an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.

House Episode 5.15: “Unfaithful” – Spoiler Photos

House Spoilers

Episode 5.15: Unfaithful
Air Date: February 9, 2009

Well, it looks like things are going to get tense for Foreman & Thirteen around the hospital. House is going to give them some sort of an ultimatum…that doesn’t sound pleasant at all. And Foreman’s covert actions regarding Thirteen’s treatment in his clinical trial are still to be discovered. On the other hand, treating a priest who is hallucinating sounds like a classic and fascinating theme for House to play with. I can’t wait!

House: SAG Awards Wrap-Up

January 26, 2009 by Lynn

Hugh LaurieOf course, I’ll add updates to this post if/when I find them, but I wanted to wrap up all the posts for last night’s big SAG Awards win for Hugh Laurie. First, I looked up Hugh in IMDb and it said that he won the SAG Award in 2007 & now he won it in 2009. But the announcer last night said that he won two consecutive times. So I really don’t know which is correct.

Unfortunately, the entire House cast was also nominated for a SAG Award, but did not win. Here are the two nomination categories for House and for Hugh:

Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series

  • WINNER: “Mad Men” (2007)
  • “Boston Legal” (2004)
  • “The Closer” (2005)
  • “Dexter” (2006)
  • “House M.D.” (2004)

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series

  • WINNER: Hugh Laurie for “House M.D.” (2004)
  • Michael C. Hall for “Dexter” (2006)
  • Jon Hamm for “Mad Men” (2007)
  • William Shatner for “Boston Legal” (2004)
  • James Spader for “Boston Legal” (2004)
Congratulations, Hugh Laurie!!

Here is the rest of the coverage for last night’s SAG Awards for House:

Hugh Laurie Red Carpet Interview

January 26, 2009 by Lynn

This is a cute red carpet interview with Hugh Laurie before the SAG Awards. Somehow, he got himself into promising to perform surgery later that night in the bathroom…how funny! ;-)

I love when he was asked when he personally is the surliest. He’s so cute. Of course, he probably rarely is surly. Here’s the clip:

Hugh Laurie’s SAG Award Acceptance Speech

January 26, 2009 by Lynn

Can Hugh Laurie get any more adorable? Here’s a clip of his acceptance speech for his Screen Actors Guild Award that he received last night. He is so humble and witty. I just love the speech.

Also, even though Robert Sean Leonard managed to escape the paparazzi at the event, you can see in this clip that he was sitting next to Hugh at the House table. Check it out.

A Few Group Photos From the SAG Awards

January 26, 2009 by Lynn

I also found several very cute group photos of the House cast taken at the SAG Awards last night. They didn’t fit readily into the posts I’ve already put up, but thought you would enjoy them anyway.
