Hugh Laurie Interview This Morning!

March 29, 2009 by Lynn

I awoke to a really fun surprise this morning! I have told my TiVo all of my favorite actors and it just recorded a show this morning for me that I wasn’t expecting. (I just love my trusty TiVo!) The show was a movie review show called Lions & Bailes Reel Talk. The guest that was interviewed on this morning’s show was Hugh Laurie, there to talk about his role as Dr. Cockroach in Monsters vs. Aliens. I immediately went to the web site and grabbed the clip of the interview for you.

Hugh says that he’s happy that Dr. Cockroach has a British accent, so he can relax and do the voice without having to Americanize it. He also talks about how he manages to keep his performance on the show fresh for each episode. You’ll love the fact that he jokes about House being loosely based on Clint Eastwood’s portrayal of The Man With No Name from the old westerns. And that Clint Eastwood tries to emulate House in all of his performances…LOL! Then they discuss what he misses the most about working in the US vs. in the UK. And stay tuned until the end where they discuss the possibilities of his novel The Gun Seller being made into a movie!

Hugh Laurie Interview Clip for Monsters vs. Aliens

March 27, 2009 by Lynn

I found this terrific short interview with Hugh Laurie about working on Monsters vs. Aliens. The interviewer is the host of Talking Pictures, Tony Toscano and together they discuss the unusual acting process of recording a voice for an animated character. For example, even if the character has to do something as simple as shake their fist, the voice has to convey shaking a fist. It sounds more difficult than regular acting to me, but what do I know? ;-)

And stay with it until the end, because Hugh answers a question about the big events the last few episodes of the season are leading up to. (Namely, the show character’s death…)

House: Two New Spoilers!

House Spoilers

Kristin at E! Online reveals another of her thinly veiled spoilers about House. She describes the guest star performance by Mos Def as being worthy of an Emmy award. Wow! That sounds fantastic! I can’t wait!

She also tells us that we’ll find out that one of the main characters has been seeing a shrink. All I can say is that if it’s House himself, I pity the poor shrink for all that House will put him/her through! ;-)

Spoiler:
Beth in New Orleans: What can you tell us about the House episode with Mos Def?
The teaser for next Monday’s episode (“Locked In,” March 30) will totally freak you out. Mos Def plays a patient with locked-in syndrome, which means he’s paralyzed and can only communicate by blinking, but he understands everything going on around him. The ep is told from the perspective of his character’s thoughts. An Emmy-worthy performance by Mr. Def, for sure. As for the fun stuff: There’s a brief moment of flirting between House and Cuddy (the words “I’ll tie you up” are uttered), and it’s revealed that one of the main characters has been seeing a shrink. [Source: E! Online]

And I’m thrilled to announce that Matt Mitovich, over at TV Guide seems to agree with my guess (and with your poll results) about which character is most likely to die on House this season. In fact, he offers a theory about how it would affect House so much. Good thinking! I wonder if he knows something…?

Spoiler:
Is it true that someone is leaving House at the end of the season? If so, I’d love to know who, or at least get a few hints. — Amanda
MATT: Yeah, a lot of people have been playing catch-up ever since Katie Jacobs told me (back in January) that House’s team will be down a person come season’s end. Jacobs also said that the events of the finale, like last year’s, will have a profound impact on House himself. Having screened next week’s Mos Def-initely excellent episode — and in light of recent death/suicide rumors — I can foresee a future where the increasingly put-upon Taub takes his own life, right in House’s office. Hmm, might that make Dr. Nasty’s demeanor less mean? [Source: TV Guide]

Hugh Laurie Interviewed on the Premiere Red Carpet

March 26, 2009 by Lynn

Earlier, I posted some photos that were taken of Hugh Laurie on the red carpet at the premiere for his new animated movie Monsters vs. Aliens where he voiced the character Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D. But Hugh not only had photos taken, he also stopped to chat a bit with several interviewers. In this first clip, he tells why he likes to work as a voice for animated movies. He has several reasons, but the last one is hilarious!

And here, he tells what the most fun part was when working on the part of Dr. Cockroach. He says that he got to unleash his “inner crazy person.” LOL!

Hugh Laurie at the Premiere of Monsters vs. Aliens

March 26, 2009 by Lynn

Hugh Laurie seemed to have a fun time with the photographers on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of the movie Monsters vs. Aliens. The animated movie that features Hugh voicing the character of Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D. has been talked about a lot and even though I have yet to see it, I’m sure Hugh makes the cockroach’s character totally believeable.

The fun part of all these photos (12 of them) is that Hugh has so many different expressions. I’ve talked before about how he can create so many different emotions and expressions with his ruggedly handsome face. He’s amazing. Any time we get to see photos of him, he gives us so many different looks. And I thought you’d enjoy the close-up of those baby-blues…

House Episode 5.19: “Locked In” Trailer

House Spoilers

Episode 5.19: Locked In
Air Date: March 30, 2009

House will be back with a brand new episode on Monday called Locked In. The guest star for it will be Mos Def and he plays a patient who has what they call locked in syndrome. Apparently, he is fully aware of everything and is able to think clearly, but cannot express himself to others so they aren’t even sure if he’s alive or dead. Wow! What a horrible condition to have!

Anyway, here’s the latest promotional clip for the episode. It’s got scenes that were filmed on the beach and some of it is filmed from the patient’s point of view. I think it’s going to be a very cool episode!! Check it out:

Hugh Laurie on David Letterman Show Last Night

March 24, 2009 by Lynn

Last night, Hugh Laurie was a guest on the Late Show With David Letterman. As always, he was hilarious, gracious and gorgeous. Here’s the interview and you just have to watch for his hysterically funny story about taking the cab in New York to the hotel. LOL!

He also talks a bit about his being honored by the Queen and about being chosen to play a cockroach:

Do they have this cockroach and say Hugh Laurie is perfect for the part? Or do they think of Hugh and ask what kind of character should he be? That’s it! A cockroach! …either way is bad. LOL!!

Happy Birthday, Peter Jacobson

House Spoilers

Episode 5.20: Simple Explanation
Air Date: March 30, 2009

These photos are some episode stills from the upcoming Simple Explanations episode. There’s a special guest star, Meat Loaf in this one. (I can’t help it, I always will think of him as part of Rocky Horror Picture Show…I can’t get that image out of my head.)

In these shots, we do see Cameron and Taub, but no one else except House. After the earlier huge spoiler, I am waiting and wondering like crazy just who will be the one…..

Cameron (Jennifer Morrison, L) asks House (Hugh Laurie, R) to take on a patient who recently came into the E.R. in the HOUSE episode “Simple Explanation” airing Monday, April 6 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

OMG, OMG, OMG!! A Lead Character is Going to Die on House!!

House Spoilers

[Photo: © 2009 FOX Broadcasting Co.]

I just read this an nearly had a heart attack! According to the spoiler gurus, there will be a death of one of the lead characters on House before the season ends! I am so bewildered about who it can be and upset at the possibilities! First, Here are the spoilers from the various sources.

Kristin at E! Online gives us this:

A main character will die this season.

This is the news I’m now hearing from reliable sources on House, that one of the cast members will be written out before the current season ends.

And trust me, it will shock the pants off of you. (Assuming you are wearing pants.)

So who will it be?

Obviously, we can’t come right out and report who will die because that would spoil a major plotpoint that will serve as the climax of the season. And honestly, it is far too good to spoil!

However, I can tell you:

  1. It’s not the most likely candidate–not by a longshot.
  2. It’s not someone who has been rumored to be leaving.
  3. It is someone who will shock you.
  4. How it happens will take you completely by surprise.
  5. There is no lead up to this death, it just…happens.

As House boss Katie Jacobs told us recently: “I think our cast will look pretty much the same next season.” The emphasis there is on pretty much, and it’s my understanding that it will be just one cast member to leave. Everyone else will be back in the fall. [Source: E! Online]

And not to be outdone, Michael Ausiello at EW gives us this:
