Episode 5.20: Simple Explanation
Air Date: March 30, 2009
These photos are some episode stills from the upcoming Simple Explanations episode. There’s a special guest star, Meat Loaf in this one. (I can’t help it, I always will think of him as part of Rocky Horror Picture Show…I can’t get that image out of my head.)
In these shots, we do see Cameron and Taub, but no one else except House. After the earlier huge spoiler, I am waiting and wondering like crazy just who will be the one…..

Cameron (Jennifer Morrison, L) asks House (Hugh Laurie, R) to take on a patient who recently came into the E.R. in the HOUSE episode “Simple Explanation” airing Monday, April 6 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

HAHA IT LOOKS LIKE IM YELLING
I don’t think the death/suicide occurs until a bit later in the season around episode 5-21 or 5-22. IMO it’s premature to get any info until then.
Other sites are saying FOX has confirmed it’s not Cuddy or Wilson. Anyone actually seen any reliable confirmation on this ??
No official confirmation. But – inofficially – no, neiter Cuddy nor Wilson.
Hang in there, the fun is in NOT knowing, believe me.
I’m just glad to see Cameron, at least one scene I’ll definitely look forward to!
You’ve got the date wrong. Episode 19 will be airing on March 30th “Locked In” with Mos Def as the guest star.
Taub is too easy. Must be Kutner or Foreman??
But why would it be Foreman when he’s happy with 13 now. Must be Taub or Foreman then.
Still I think Taub is too easy.
Taub would be expected because of all of his financial woes. If the spoiler is to be believed it’s supposed to be somebody that will catch us off guard.
ehhhh. this is going to be bad. and they’re killing me keeping me in the dark!
i definently think its gunna be someone like 13 or something because they say it will be totally random and off guard. also there will not be a lead up it will just happen. it will take you by suprise and it wont be some one you expect. but how else would you expect the writers to do it? they are brilliant. as long as it isnt the main people like house, wilson, or cuddie i’ll be fine. i personally hope its chase, never really cared for him. buuuut i dont think it will be because they say that him and cameron will be getting married because they have scenes from that bachelor party
cuddy**
i think its gonna be chase. hes been having less and less of a role in the show for a long time, and i don’t think it’ll be any of house’s team right now, and cameron is too hot for them to take off the show. it might sound sexist, but thats how they judge these kinds of things
I think I’m gonna let it out now.
So peeps, IF YOU DON’T WANNA KNOW who’ll bit the dust, then DON’T READ ON.
WUUUUDDDUUUUP is not too far off.
It’s happening at the bachelor party and yes, Cameron is going to lose another man in her life.
It’s sort of like an unintended suicide.
Oh, and guys, have you already read that Hugh Laurie has signed on as the lead of a new two-part-movie for TV?
Gonna go catch MvA now. See ya soon.
I think Wilson is going to be the one to die. In real life he’s expecting his first child and New York is long way from L.A. It would certainly have a big impact on House.
Laura: It’s been reported that the cast member did NOT want to leave….that it was a creative decision. So I don’t think it’s Wilson. He is MUCH too important to the show.
i saw the pic of a scene. it’s kutner’s. he was sitting backseat of a car and broken glasses on his head , just like he jumped from somewhere high and fell off on a car , he was looking like dead. i hope it wasn’t a photoshop pic.
mdu: where have you seen that?
I can’t see the pic or am I able to save it in order to fix it. Are you sure it’s from HOUSE?
Thanks! Appreciate it. Can you send it in a different way?
Of course it’s not from House. He’s wearing a fake brain! Kal Penn’s done a bunch of movies, in most of which he is far more likely to be wearing a fake brain. But yeah, scary pic. I may just photoshop some fake spoilers from that myself.
HAZEL: I SAID I couldn’t see the photo very well.
yeah I don’t think it’s from House either º-º” the top of his head looks so fake… and how the heck would half of his brain show up in in a car accident with that neat and straight cut? impossible!
Kutner is dead… he shot himself in the temple… there was no hint of this…….. wow
SO BUMMED IT WAS KUTNER!! UGH HE WAS MY FAVORITE!
Simple Explanation was not the episode I thought it would be. And it wasn’t the ep’ I thought it could have been. I appreciated Hugh’s take on House’s reaction; that House would not be able to process the suicide of one of his staff in any constructive way – other than to struggle with emotional denial.
The choice of Kutner as the suicide was, according to the PTB, a “creative choice”. That means they ran out of things to do with him. I’m not unhappy with Kutner as a choice – maybe we’ll get Cameron back now. She’s a better dynamic for House than Kutner was.
Having liked what emotional implications this ep’ might be leading up to for House (for eg’, I’ve read spoilers/rumors House suffers a breakdown this season ender; considering what House has been through in the last year or so, not all that unexpected: the man cracked his skull & almost died for Wilson, had done same for (but lost anyway), a woman he may have fought with and resented but also grugingly admired & was attracted to: Amber. His father died (I won’t go into the many emotional upheavals that event could have privately drummed up), he watched helplessly as Cuddy took up with a romantic rival in the form of a relentlessly demanding baby, he’s been betrayed by steadily worsening leg pain which no one (including House), seems to recognise could be exacting a heavy physical/emotional toll. And, finally, abandoned for several months by his so-called best friend when House was at one of the lowest points in his life (sorry Willie – no quarter from this corner until you thank House for almost dying for you and then telling him you’re sorry for being such an ungrateful dink about it). Anyone else notice House’s remark to Wilson this episode? — “Good to see you”? Said like House had not seen his best friend for many days or weeks. Oh, right, Wilson’s dating again. Perfectly good reason to ignore your emotionally fragile friend while one of his staff kills himself. Wilson — you’re a putz!
I think House hasn’t allowed himsef the proper rest to process any of it. One visit to a psychiatrist not-withstanding, House is due for a breakdown.
Plus he was in ANOTHER traffic accident while in New York to see that psychiatrist – not a particularly healing sort of trip. And, according to House, his one session there “didn’t work”. (an attempt to have the pain hypnotized away perhaps??)
Now then, having said all that, this episode was slo-o-o-o-w.
Hugh/House was it’s saving grace. House may have far more insight into Kutner’s state of mind than any one of his collegues suspects. Nothing like personal experience.
House was probably mirroring his own childhood feelings when he spoke so freely to Kutner’s parents about the state of their son’s mind. House is a risk for another suicide attempt, if only a passive one. Season three’s bottle of whiskey + bottle of oxycodone = probable death. Had House not thrown up in his sleep, he’d be dead right now.
One other tiny unexpected bit of insight from House was his seeking out of Cameron to assist with the convincing of hubby to sign off in helping the wife. House appreciates Cameron’s abilities even if he won’t readily admit it.
Looking foward to more House angst next week.
