Hugh Laurie Talks About S5 and the Finale of House
May 7, 2009 by Lynn
Here’s a wonderful clip that FOX has released where Hugh Laurie talks about his character, House and the impending breakdown. I love his characterization of House and how he explains the character’s thought processes and emoations. It’s fascinating to hear it all from him, the man who helped create the character.
Hugh also clues us in on the Huddy relationship and tells us how House’s breakdown would have to affect the others at the hospital. What a cool clip!

He’s such a brilliant man and his accent is so lovely I could listen to him talk all day long!! I can’t wait for the season finale even though I know it means a long wait until the season premiere.
OMG! i luv him. but i just wanted to say two things.
1. Doesn’t it just make you MELT when Hugh says “atOLL” in that adorable English accent?? (01:23)
2. I think he kind of slipped into an American accent for a second. (01:43)
OMG, you’re right. When he starts talking about the medical stuff, he goes into his House accent!
I guess thats the only way that he practices saying medical stuff. Interesting!
I loved the finale of season five. All I would have changed, I would have had Wilson and Cuddy get together when they detoxed House instead of Cuddy and House. I think they have a dynamic when they are together.

i just hope that they bring him back in season six. if they don’t then i will be upset. they just can’t leave it where they left it
If you mean Hugh Laurie, I think he will be back, he signed a contract for three more seasons.

His british accent is fine but I think he’s a dreamboat when he’s in his american accent
He’s unbelievably sexy when he’s House.
S5 last two episodes were TERRIBLE! It’s called HOUSE for a reason. Again with the whole “addict” thing, and now they’ve gone overboard. First killing off Kutner, and now putting House in an institute, really? I really hope this isn’t a “PC” sort of thing.
I thought it was fun to bring back Amber though.
ahem…i think someone needs to watch those episodes again..
@ ruth: You’re right. There’s more to this than just House being in a mental institution for some time.
BTW: I’ve read somewhere else it wasn’t Vicodin that caused the hallucinations. There is suppodsed to be a halfway readable closeup of the pill bottle and it seems to say something like “oxy(codone?)” It’s way stronger than his “usual” stuff. We’ll have to wait and see how it’s going to play itself out.
Following quote is what Peter Jacobson said in an intwerview:
“The creator, David Shore, recently gave an interview that said House wouldn’t be back to work immediately when you return next fall. Who do you think will take over in his absence? “It’s hard for us to really know what’s coming … I have no idea where [the writers] are going to go. That being said … it’s sort of natural, I would guess for Omar [Epps], for Foreman [his character] to probably take some of the lead because … he usually does when House is predisposed. Or you know, shy of that, I imagine a pretty terrific group effort no matter what. But again … he’s got to be in that hospital, I’m not real sure what they are going to do. I’m kind of confused and excited.”"
I think that the whole “addict” thing made it interesting and i loved it.and kutner dieing had nothing to do with houses addiction.i loved this season the most, and the finale was incredible!which can only mean that season 6 will be super awesome.im so excited!:)
