Hugh Laurie is Sporting the Scruffy Look
June 2, 2009 by Lynn
Hugh Laurie is wearing a full beard and looks very casual in this photo snapped of him in LAX on Thursday. He looks quite relaxed and I say, “Good for him!” I think he looks great, no matter what!
On a different note, he was recently asked about his feelings for Twitter, the online social networking site. His best friend Stephen Fry is a great fan of Twitter and many of us enjoy following him. (@StephenFry)
Hugh is very philosophical about the 140 characters maximum for each Twitter message.
“I think if people were able to take these 140 characters and develop a poetic Western form – a haiku of our own in which all human existence could be compressed into those 140 characters – that would be a satisfying thing, but that’s not what I see when I read them.”
LOL! I love how he looks at things.

Either an attempt at privacy which appears to have failed; or working on a substantial beard for Greg House in the Asylum come shooting starts for Season 6.
I really didn’t think it was possible for Hugh Laurie to be sexier than he is while protraying DR. Gregory House, but atlas I was wrong. There’s a mystery behind this man’s eyes. He looks absolutely gorgeous in a full beard, but then again he’s a man that gorgeous no matter what.
I can understand needing to just “let yourself go” in the off season. No need to worry about filming!
man oh man would i love for Hugh to give me rug burn right about now…
I don’t think he’ll do this for very long, given his birthday soon.
He looks absolutely yummy!
Can someone make him loose that full beard?!
Mountain man is not my favourite look…
you know what would be reeeally cool for hugh? If his wife , or somebody, hires at least two strippers for his 50th birthday. Just envision this people…hugh sitting in a chair..one stripper grinding his chin, another on his lap…woo hoo….he’d be one happy 50 year old motherf!@#er!!!
He’s not very much into parties. He said so himself in a recent interview for an english paper. His comment on bithdays goes like this: “I’m trying not to think of it as big or meaningful in any way. I find the whole celebration of approaching death a peculiar thing.”
I just love his view…
Few comments – first off, I LOVE the beard – but then he looks equally hot with or without the facial hair!
Second – Actors who can really ACT (they can handle TV and the big screen too) AND play music, AND are so generous to charities, AND do all the PR work I know he does for the show, AND be involved in the show’s production, are few and far between. most of the time when I hear how much money celebs make for just looking pretty, but they can’t act worth a darn or do much of anything else, it makes me cringe. But he deserves everything he gets. More power to him.
Can’t wait for season 5 DVD set to come out and for season 6 to start!!!

I so agree with ruth!
@greg…yeah , i already read that too before i wrote my sick comment…lol..oh well….i’ll still use my imagination…=)
i thinh the beard is just for the start of season 6…..
Well, the beard he can cut don´t he? Not problem at all. xoxo from Brazil.
He was interviewed on Friday in the UK & claimed he was giving the beard a go ‘just because it’s there’ (ie the usual reason for climbing mountains – a bit of playfully silly logic but that was the gist of the whole conversation !)
@ jay…and where can we find this interview?
@ ruth: Well, I’m not Jay, but I found the clip. You can watch it here: http://www.theinsider.com/news/2253430_Hugh_Laurie_visits_Jonathan_Ross
It’s real fun to watch!
Well… I think it looks good.
He reminds me a little bit in old Ben Kenobi in his middle ages xD
Like the looks, and I think it has to do with season 6
Greetz
@Greg – cheers for sharing that, I watched it ‘on air’ so didn’t have the link.
It was interesting where he said when he had to ‘act’ the limp, his brain actually made his leg hurt to help him out. The interviewer asked if he would stick a sharp object in his shoe & the amusing response was to stick his chin in the air and declare ‘no because that would be a cheap trick!’ in a very actor-being-pretentious manner – heh heh.
He also was given a miniature Steinway grand for his impending b’day – I can now see him sitting on the floor like Linus? from Peanuts, plinking away on a tiny piano.
@ Jay: re the Peanuts reference: My thoughts exactly. Loved that bit.
As for the thing with Houses’ limp and his brain making his leg hurt: Mind over matter.
As for his impending b-day: I wonder, how many comments tomorrows post will get, for I’m sure there will be one here dedicated to him.
