Jennifer Morrison: Will She Return, or Won’t She?

Sadly, even Jennifer Morrison doesn’t know if her character Cameron will return to Princeton-Plainsboro. The House producers don’t tell the cast ahead of time anything about the story lines, so even Jennifer has to wait to find out if she’s been fired. That seems rather unfair. Here’s a bit from E! about it:
And what’s the truth about various reports that she’s either still a regular or that she might do guest star visits later this season? Answers Morrison, “I’m still a series regular, technically. I really don’t know. All I know is that I don’t know. And they keep making it very clear to me that I don’t know. I feel bad [because I wish] that I had an answer for people. But, uh, anything could happen I guess.” (Does anyone else feel terrible that Morrison’s been put in the awkward position of having to answer Q’s about whether or not she’s lost her job without her really even knowing the answer?)
Morrison does know, happily, how much fans support her right now. She said, “I don’t read anything online, because if you read the good you have to read the bad, and if you read the bad, it’s depressing, so I just avoid it altogether, but…even with avoiding looking at stuff online…it’s really been really overwhelmingly beautiful the way the fans have been supportive. I couldn’t thank them enough. It means so much to me that the people watching like my character. You couldn’t ask for more as an actor.”
My personal hope is that Cameron does return to the fold. Her character adds a sense of gentleness and empathy for the patients that we don’t see as much in any of the other doctors on the show.
What are your thoughts about Dr. Cameron’s departure from the show in last night’s episode? Do you think it was handled properly, or do you think it could have been done better? Leave a comment and let’s discuss it!

“My personal hope is that Cameron does return to the fold. Her character adds a sense of gentleness and empathy for the patients that we don’t see as much in any of the other doctors on the show.”
Well said, and one of the reasons why I like Cameron so much. She always added a more human side to the show (and House as well!). I hope she will return too, although I doubt it will really happen, it looked so final. Her last scene with House made me cry, and I think deep down in his heart he’ll miss her just like her fans will miss her. That scene was so intense! And the chemistry… so unique…
But: I think that what she said and everything else they made her say or do was rather OOC, like they just needed to come up with something to get rid of her – that’s one more thing making me sad besides the mere fact, that she has to leave.
Anyway, I’ll join you in hoping…
I’m glad Cameron is gone. She hasn’t been warm and cuddly ever since the 3rd season, behaving more like Cutthroat Bitch #2 as the seasons progressed, and especially in the last episode. I’ve yet to hear a more hypocritical monologue than the one she delivered to House and, what’s worse, she even deluded herself. As hard and unapproachable that character has become, in that final speech there was a glimpse of the first season Cameron, the one that hero-worshipped naively, the one that divided the world in white and black. Perhaps it was that aspect that shocked me so much. So, bye-bye Cameron: I hope to never see you again.
Jenn is a cute person but the show will be better without her annoying character. Her last scene with House was lame (and I don´t mean she did a bad job) but the scene itself and Cameron´s superiority was pathetic.
I’m pending whether or not I’ll watch this episode. A part of me wants to, but the other parts say no because it’s just so sad.
Sandra, I too agree with the comment: “My personal hope is that Cameron does return to the fold. Her character adds a sense of gentleness and empathy for the patients that we don’t see as much in any of the other doctors on the show.” That comment is what Cameron is all about: she’s compassionate, has feelings & opinions about treatments & her personal life, but above all, she & Chase are a reason why I watch House in the 1st place.
There is a silver lining to everything that’s happened: Jen said that David Shore is working w/ the show’s writers to bring Cameron back (hopfully for good), which is what they should have done in the 1st place. I think I should speak on behalf of Cameron (& Chameron) fans all over the world when I say: BRING CAMERON BACK!!! KEEP CHAMERON TOGETHER!!!!
Again, Sandra: keep thinking positive, & always pray for a happy ending.
CAMERON IS THE BEST
if they get rid of her, i will never watch a new house episode. i will only watch the old ones, over and over again. and i will shun katie jacobs. cameron must not be allowed to leave. ever.
Seemed weird that once again House (at his worst) would not shake hands with
Cameron. When she left the team the first time & went to his apartment he behaved very badly as well. This episode left a lot to be desired in several of
the characters. Hope she gets a chance to come back.
I can’t stress enough why they need to get Cameron back. Not only did she bring a more human side to the show, she brought to our attention many ethical dilemmas, and was a consistent and interesting character to watch grow and develop.
I don’t like what I see coming without her – the promos for next week look as bad as the rest of the season have been. It’s basically all “Huddy” drama – which I personally find nauseating. The way these characters have just been so re-written from the first three seasons really does astound me. House is no longer House – he’s merely a shadow of the sarcastic, miserable, yet INTERESTING character we all fell in love with in the first place. Now that he’s a lovesick puppy pining after Cuddy? This show has lost all its subtlety. The reason i always enjoyed the House/Csmeron relationship was because of the subtle chemistry present in their scenes together. House and Cuddy screams in your face, and I’m sorry, but it’s just dull.
In my opinion, the writers are going to have to change something. Because while this Huddy drama could carry on for a while, eventually people ARE going to get bored. And when it’s too late to get Jennifer back, the numbers are going to dwindle. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this was the last season.
They might as well just rename the show Huddy and get it over with. At least I KNOW I’m not watching now.
Cam added a lot to the show
…
Actually, she was an annoying nuisance in the first three seasons (her only purpose was to question House at every turn and pout sadly); then, she disappeared in season 4 and 5.
That said, she was getting good in season 6 though – House (the show) actually made some progress in character development after so many seasons, largely thanks to the Cameron subplot.
I would much rather see Chase leave because his character has always been entirely one dimensional and serves less and less purpose as time goes on.
Emma get a life..anyway… i really enjoyed last night’s episode since it showed exactly how stone cold hearted House can be since it turned out he wanted Cameron gone after all.All the Lucas/Cuddy crap going on pisses me off so now i REALLY want Lydia AND Stacy to come back and say hi….that would be interesting..
I totally agree! I wish cameron all the best, and hopefully we get to see her once again on our screens… I’ve been a duckling fan since the beginning and it’s always been Chase and Cameron for me. And to think that they give us a wedding after 5 seasons, just to take it away within a 3?4? episode arc is a bit rediculouse.
My shipping aside, the writing was HORRIBLE the characterization was EVEN WORSE (i mean, house obsessed cameron from season 1? really? REALLY?) And what is Lucus doing in the show? i cringed everytime he appeared and i can’t help but think his screen time would have been more than sufficiant for a proper send off to Cameron’s character.
AND FINALLY, the way they’re treating JMO is just… well, it leaves me speechless.
so all in all, they’ve just gaine done MAJORLY P.O ed fan…
Liz: you should watch, just to have your opinion about it.
and about Cameron, a part of me want her coming back, and her saying how wrong he was and saying sorry to Chase he wasn’t ruined and to House and all that… and another part tells me Jennifer is probably happier to be taken out after 2 or 3 years without proper screenlines and an end like this. She’s famous and an good actreess she can have an excelent career out of House and has nothing to be sad about.
and sense of gentleness and empathy for the patients? That was in the three firsts season, in this season or the past last ones I haven’t seen anything of that. I think Thirteen is having more of that lately (and I don’t like her that much)
The whole way she left just didn’t make any sense. Why is Chase choosing a total mind playing narcissist like House over his own wife? It’s just stupid. Maybe Jennifer is better off, since this show is week in it’s writing for the female characters anyway. I could do without any more Cuddy cleavage shots. Thank you producers we already know she has a pair.
@Ruth: Lydia and Stacy have my vote, too! LOL
She hast to get back.
Sure the team will be fine but it will allays feel like something is missing
The producers have to be fools not to put her back
@Alex obviousely chase likes his job.House’s mind playing narcissism is what makes House interesting and the way Cam left totally made sense. If u r a true fan of the show, you will watch whatever road it takes and LIKE IT!!. these forums r fun!! LOL…
Get a life Ruth!! And go on House as the POTW to get the pole surgically removed from your butt! LOL at that deary!
I thought the entire episode was a complete mess!
Jen did a good acting job, but her little ’speech’ to House was totally lame.
Not a very nice ending for Jen. Was very rushed. I wonder why it was that way….what was the big hurry???
I hope Cameron returns. She is such a sweetheart!
It would really be a loss to have Cameron leave for good. It would be great to have her return, of course with flair!!! Something really exciting, like Chase gets hurt and she returns to be by his side.
THANK GOD SHE’S GONE!
The character wasn’t (and never was) strong nor need it anymore.
So I’m thinking she’s gone for good.
She coming back will be a total disaster.. so, u guys are playing with us or what?
One thing I don’t like is producers doing what fans want, they should let the show follow its own way, it’s own basis. And with Cameron on it, wasn’t the case.
We need something a little bit stronger, a good twist, stop playing with the show’s own drama.
We’ll see..
@ alex…i would love to get the pole out my ass just so i could stick it in yours….deary?…r u gay?…hee hee
@ Lucy: Cameron was missed by a lot of people, because she helped a lot to understand House better. OF COURSE I hope that she comes back SOON! The only thing ruining the show right now is this terrible Huddy arc.
@ Ruth YES I AM a real fan (have been for 5 years and will be forever) despite the fact I’m not watching except for known non-Huddy episodes because that’s not the show I fell in love with anymore anyway. It’s like House reloaded for soap loving fangirls. That makes me sad, as a real fan (of the REAL House). And I still hope they’ll go back to the real House.
“Seemed weird that once again House (at his worst) would not shake hands with
Cameron” – I don’t think it’s that strange, the entire final scene of the episode centered around the fact that at its core, the House-Cameron relationship hasn’t changed, she’s tried to move on and be assertive but in the end she’ll still offer House the same formal, parting gift (handshake and kiss) from the seasons that came before it. Then, if you examine it on House’s side, we’re dealing with the fact that if he shakes her hand it’ll be ‘too final’. He’s a character that’s never liked changed and losing someone who he cares about so fully – he can’t justify her departure by mirroring their former one. Maybe there’s a tad of his manipulative side in there too, trying to keep her there by playing on her emotions.
We’ll see.
Because the parting scene wasn’t final, I’d put money her returning.
