Many thanks to Andrea for the heads up on this one! Fans of Family Guy will be delighted to know that this week’s episode will have Hugh Laurie as a guest voice, playing House MD. I have to admit that I’ve never even watched Family Guy, so I really don’t even know what to say about the plot, but if Hugh is on the episode as the voice of House, it’s got to be a classic! Be sure to tune in!

Here’s the press release for the episode:

PETER BECOMES A CORPORATE BIG SHOT THIS HOLIDAY SEASON ON AN ALL-NEW “FAMILY GUY” SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13, ON FOX

Hugh Laurie (“House”) Makes Guest Voice Appearance

When Peter gives Lois’ father the bachelor party he never had, Mr. Pewterschmidt slips into a coma and not even Dr. House can bring him out of it. With her father incapacitated, Lois is given control of Pewterschmidt Industries. Peter convinces Lois to let him run the operation, but he gets power-hungry and fires the board. Mr. Pewterschmidt soon bounces back and tries to regain control of what he’s built – even though it may be more difficult than Christmas shopping for Peter – in the all-new “Business Guy” episode of FAMILY GUY airing Sunday, Dec. 13 (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (FG-711) (TV-14 D, L, S)

Voice Cast: Seth MacFarlane as Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin, Quagmire and Cater; Alex Borstein as Lois Griffin and Babs; Seth Green as Chris Griffin; Mila Kunis as Meg

Guest Voice Cast: Hugh Laurie as Dr. House; Patrick Warburton as Joe

  1. Seriously? This is the worst news I have ever heard on this site. I am a major fan of Hugh Laurie and House MD. Major isn’t even the right word- it’s more like obsessive. And this appearance takes away a lot of respect I have for the man. So maybe Hugh kinda took the job on impulse- thought it would be fun and possibly a little funny to do? Possibly he was pressured into it? All I can say is that appearing on a show as House that has no character development and consists of only gag writing is a kick in the face of the standard set by House MD and other shows such as South Park, Burn Notice, Lie to Me, and The Mentalist, that are generally libertarian in nature, filled with science and logic, skepticism as our ultimate duty being the reoccurring message. South Park had it right when they showed that Family Guy could be written by Manatees picking random balls with pop culture references on them. I guess that morons need entertainment too, and some of them can be nice people. Hugh must just be thinking about them as well as the others. Yeah, that has to be right. That’s definitely not ad hoc fallacy for the purpose of keeping my beliefs- no way.

  2. Andrea says:

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion. I love Family Guy simply because it is a mindless comedy. I don’t have to think about it, it’s just funny. Nothing more. If that makes you think I’m a moron, so be it, but I like House specifically because I DO have to think about it – and House, Family Guy, and documentaries are about all I watch on TV.

You’re right, Family Guy could be written by manatees. Who cares? Enough people find it funny enough that it was honored at the Emmys with a historic nomination. TV can be mindless humor. Sometimes we all need a little of that. I was the one who told Lynn about this, and I am really looking forward to it.

  3. Lina says:

I think Hugh appearing on Family Guy is a great thing, it shows his sense of humor, after all it’s a show that makes fun of everything and everyone, and most people probably don’t like that.
And I love Family Guy AND House, MD, what’s better than that? xD
I’ll probably download the episode to watch!

  4. Sandra says:

Actually I have read Hugh loves Family Guy (GY tweeted about that), and I understand it. He is a comedian, so why not. I don’t watch Family Guy on a regular basis, but I’ll definitely watch Hugh’s (vocal) appearance.

  5. Andrea says:

And anyone who thinks Hugh is now “above” a show with “gag writing” hasn’t seen much of A Bit of Fry and Laurie – which was pretty much all gag writing, and one of the funniest shows of its time. Heck even House is pretty full of gag writing if you think about it. He’s GREAT at comedy, and I can’t wait for tonight!!

i guess to sum it all up…antiplato is an idiot…=)

  7. Victoria says:

I agree with Andrea. Hugh Laurie is great as House, but one must remember his earlier work such as A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Jeeves and Wooster, etc. In these shows, Laurie is first and foremost a comedian. He really is a funny guy, which is probably why he agreed to be on Family Guy. I think it’s wonderful because he is a great comedian.

  8. Rob says:

Saw Family Guy last night…The guest appearance was incredible.

  9. Sandy says:

I watched it too and have to agree that HL was great! I’ve never watched Family Guy before and, frankly, probably won’t be watching it as a general rule. HL has a great sense of humor and it seems that this guest appearance was right up his alley!

  10. ruth (subscribed) says:

hugh’s part was kinda wasted since the episode wasn’t funny at all…American Dad was actually funnier…and i knew Dr House was going to be the swamp monster…that part was cute…

  11. Lina says:

I haven’t watched it all but I think people have to be reminded that House wasn’t the main character of the show, and that Family Guy isn’t every time a comedy show, it has drama sometimes too and a like House an arc that if you don’t follow since the beggining you may not understand and find it annoying.

I know many people that watched House from the middle and didn’t like because they didn’t understand it… ^^’

  12. quoyle says:

The AntiPlato…. your brain’s a paste of ignorant waste. at least that was the impression you left. true that you’re obsessive about him though. it means you’ll only see what you want to see and fail to notice him as he really is – an ordinary human being. Dr. House is not Hugh Laurie but just a character played by him. one of many. if you don’t like Family Guy then fine but to say you lost a lot of respect for Hugh Laurie sounds a little divorced from reality. if you respect the guy you should respect his decisions and choices. i don’t believe he was “pressured” into doing the program. unlike you (can you imagine) he likes Family Guy. will you lose all your “respect” for him now if i say that he’s been on the show before? because he has.

and by the way. that South Park reference about FG… the way that you presented it here… erm….do you even get the show? what they’re doing? or do you think that satire and irony are some mythological creatures who don’t really exist? if you can’t be bothered looking further from what you see then what does it make you? ignorant or a know-it-all? whatever’s the case, try thinking a bit. everything’s a lot bigger than they seem.
