This week, the teleision elite all made it to Monaco for the 49th Annual Monte Carlo TV Festival. It’s the place where every year, the enertainment industry is focused on the most popular television series in the world. This year, our favorite grouchy TV doctor’s series was named as the world’s most popular TV series. The Golden Nymph Award was presented to House MD for Best Drama TV Series.

According to Yahoo News:

According to ratings agency Eurodata TV Worldwide, House and his team of canny diagnosticians last year gathered more than 81.8 million viewers in 66 countries, representing a potential 1.6 billion viewers.

How exciting! It’s so wonderful to know that people all over the world respect and enjoy the same quality TV drama that we all love. Hurray for House!

Hugh Laurie Nominated for an A-List Award

The nominees for the 2nd annual A-List Awards have been announced. The awards air on Bravo and are hosted by self-proclaimed “D-List” celebrity Kathy Griffin. Last year, because the awards were so new, there were not nearly as many categories as this year. But now they seem to really be embracing the fun of the awards. (You know with Kathy as the host, they can’t be totally serious, right?)

Anyway, the wonderful news is that Hugh Laurie is nominated for one of the A-List Awards this year. Here’s the description of the category and the list of nominees:

A-LIST ACTOR (Male) – Awarded to an actor in a scripted series whose character portrayal in the last year has moved, delighted, amused, enthralled and entertained us more than any other actor on television.

  • David Duchovny, “Californication”
  • Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”
  • Neil Patrick Harris, “How I Met Your Mother”
  • Julian McMahon, “Nip/Tuck”
  • Hugh Laurie, “House”

Keep your fingers crossed that Hugh wins!

House: SAG Awards Wrap-Up

January 26, 2009 by Lynn

Hugh LaurieOf course, I’ll add updates to this post if/when I find them, but I wanted to wrap up all the posts for last night’s big SAG Awards win for Hugh Laurie. First, I looked up Hugh in IMDb and it said that he won the SAG Award in 2007 & now he won it in 2009. But the announcer last night said that he won two consecutive times. So I really don’t know which is correct.

Unfortunately, the entire House cast was also nominated for a SAG Award, but did not win. Here are the two nomination categories for House and for Hugh:

Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series

  • WINNER: “Mad Men” (2007)
  • “Boston Legal” (2004)
  • “The Closer” (2005)
  • “Dexter” (2006)
  • “House M.D.” (2004)

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series

  • WINNER: Hugh Laurie for “House M.D.” (2004)
  • Michael C. Hall for “Dexter” (2006)
  • Jon Hamm for “Mad Men” (2007)
  • William Shatner for “Boston Legal” (2004)
  • James Spader for “Boston Legal” (2004)
Congratulations, Hugh Laurie!!

Here is the rest of the coverage for last night’s SAG Awards for House:

Hugh Laurie Red Carpet Interview

January 26, 2009 by Lynn

This is a cute red carpet interview with Hugh Laurie before the SAG Awards. Somehow, he got himself into promising to perform surgery later that night in the bathroom…how funny! ;-)

I love when he was asked when he personally is the surliest. He’s so cute. Of course, he probably rarely is surly. Here’s the clip:

Hugh Laurie’s SAG Award Acceptance Speech

January 26, 2009 by Lynn

Can Hugh Laurie get any more adorable? Here’s a clip of his acceptance speech for his Screen Actors Guild Award that he received last night. He is so humble and witty. I just love the speech.

Also, even though Robert Sean Leonard managed to escape the paparazzi at the event, you can see in this clip that he was sitting next to Hugh at the House table. Check it out.

House Men at the SAG Awards

January 26, 2009 by Lynn

Of course, the men from House were looking hot at last night’s SAG Awards too. I can’t find any photos of Robert Sean Leonard there, but all the rest of the House guys were definitely there. I like the pictures of them smiling, so I waded through all those scowling ones to find you these. Don’t you agree that they look so much more handsome when they smile? Why don’t they realize that?

Hugh Laurie Wins His Second SAG Award!

January 25, 2009 by Lynn

I’m thrilled to let you know that Hugh Laurie has won his second Screen Actors’ Guild (SAG) Award for his role as Greg House. (For some crazy reason, he was nominated, but didn’t win in 2006 & 2008, but won in 2007.) How exciting!!

House: Golden Globe Wrap-Up

January 12, 2009 by Lynn

Even though Hugh Laurie won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in 2006 and 2007, he was not successful in bringing it home last night. Likewise, the show House also won in those two years only. I suppose it’s only fair to share….

Here are the categories that Hugh and House were nominated in for last night’s Golden Globe Awards:

Best Television Series - Drama

  • WINNER: Mad Men (AMC)
  • Dexter (SHOWTIME)
  • House (FOX)
  • In Treatment (HBO)
  • True Blood (HBO)

Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series - Drama

  • WINNER: Gabriel Byrne - In Treatment (HBO)
  • Michael C. Hall - Dexter (SHOWTIME)
  • Jon Hamm - Mad Men (AMC)
  • Hugh Laurie - House (FOX)
  • Jonathan Rhys Meyers - The Tudors (SHOWTIME)

And here are links to all of my posts related to House and the Golden Globe Awards for 2009:

The Men of House on the Red Carpet

January 12, 2009 by Lynn

Lisa Rinna & Joey Fatone were interviewing celebrities on the red carpet for last night’s Golden Globe Awards. Here’s a clip where Joey talked to Omar Epps, Kal Penn & Peter Jacobson. Omar says that he’s been working on writing and producing a film in his “copious” free time, while Kal just finished a small independent film that was filmed abroad. I’ll fill you in with more details on those, as I find out.
