Meet Dr. House’s Psychiatrist

When last we saw Dr. House, he was sadly entering a mental hospital, presumably to check himself in for rehab. At the Paley Center this week, the cast and producers for House gave us some info about what to expect for the show in season 6. Sadly, since I could not be there, I have to rely on other members of the press for the news.
According to Zap2It, Andre Braugher has been cast to play House’s doctor in the mental hospital. He was fantastic as the doctor on the series Gideon’s Crossing. (I loved that show!) He played a rather gruff, but extremely brilliant doc on that series and I feel very confident that he can be a serious factor in Dr. Greg House’s recovery. Great casting!!
The faceoff between Dr. House and his psych doctor will happen in the two-hour season premiere on September 21.
Series creator David Shore calls the premiere “more like a movie,” and word is the episode will take place almost entirely inside the mental facility.
[Hugh] Laurie, for his part, says he’s psyched to work with Braugher. “I have admired him as one of the greatest actors there is.”
Now I’m even more excited about the new season!!
What Do You Think of Last Night’s House Episode?

I never watch TV shows right when they air. It’s one of the things that happen when I want to watch several that air at the same time. (I love my TiVo.) So when I got to finally watch last night’s House episode, I got to thinking about it in a big way. Then I started to wonder what all of you thought about it.
First of all, it’s interesting that one of the unusual illnesses I talked about recently was discussed as one of the possible diagnoses for the POTW. For a while, they thought he had alien hand syndrome.
We were told that it would be the most shocking House episode ever. Did it live up to that? I’d say that it was a strong second to the episode where Kutner died, but that it did definitely come as a surprise. (If you haven’t watched it yet…you should come back to read the rest of this post after you watch it. This is no surprise you want to be spoiled.)
First of all, I was wondering last week why the love scene between House & Cuddy was so extremely short. Now it seems to make more sense. But now I’m sad that it wasn’t real. Huddy fans, what are your thoughts on this?
I was really enjoying the happiness that House showed when he woke up and found Cuddy’s lipstick by the bathroom sink. And the way he was so happy all day long at the hospital was cute too. But I knew something bad was going to happen next when he announced to the whole hospital about their interlude.
It was a big surprise to me that House saw Kutner in the room…I should have noticed his name in the press release, but I didn’t. But somehow, I think that’s what David Shore wanted…
We now know why they did the “top secret” filming at the closed mental hospital in New Jersey. It had to be for the scene with Wilson dropping off House. Now I wonder what next season will bring us. Will episodes take place with House as a patient…helping to diagnose patients over the phone?

Episode 5.24: Both Sides Now
Air Date: May 11, 2009
Here are the spoiler photos for the season 5 finale episode of House. When I look at these photos, I have to wonder what will be the aftermath of the Huddy hookup…but there’s no hint here. But we do get to see that the clinic Patient of the Week (POTW) will be played by Carl Reiner. Reiner is an amazing actor and whatever this situation is about, we have been told it will be revealing for House.
We also see here that the main POTW will be a man with a brain whose two halves operate separately. It’s such an unsual thing that it will be interesting to see how they treat it. I know in the season 3 episode with Dave Matthews, they performed an operation to remove half of his brain in order to help him be better. I wonder if something just as radical will be called for here. It looks like another great episode! But I have to admit that I’m sad that season 5 will be coming to an end….

Cameron (Jennifer Morrison, L) and Chase (Jesse Spencer, R) share an emotional moment in the HOUSE season finale episode “Both Sides Now” airing Monday, May 11 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Episode 5.23: Under My Skin
Air Date: May 4, 2009
Here are some more spoiler clips for Monday’s episode of House. In this first one, it’s clear that House is not doing so well, in fact he looks pretty rough. Watch what happens when Foreman comes to tell him that he needs to come to work to help with a new patient:
This is a very interesting clip. In it, House asks Wilson to sit in on the differentials with him and second guess everything he does because of his lack of sleep. Wilson, of course, needs more information about his friend:

Episode 5.22: House Divided
Air Date: April 27, 2009
In this clip, House has a very creepy conversation with his own hallucination of Amber. Together, they think of several reasons why he would be having visions of her. One of the ones I find the most intriguing is when he says that maybe he subconsciously wants to get Wilson in bed…..
And here, House tries to ignore Amber when he’s talking to the team about the deaf wrestler. It’s cool when she tries to wrtie on the white board, but can’t.

Lots of House Spoilers for Tonight’s Episode!

Episode 5.22: House Divided
Air Date: April 27, 2009
Finally! EW spoiler guru, Michael Ausiello has given us a bunch of tidbits of spoilerage for the episode of House we’ll see airing tonight. There’s talk of insomnia, psych wards, a bachelor party and strippers…
Spoiler:
Question: Would you please do a House-only AA? Look, I’ll even get it started: What is this “important decision” that House “struggles” with? House isn’t crazy… so what would cause him, (if anything), to go into a psych ward? –Kate
Ausiello: House-only AA? What a brilliant idea! And just to clarify, I never said House was for sure checking into a cuckoo’s nest. I was merely making an assumption after connecting a few dots. But if it turns out that he is headed to the funny farm, I would imagine an extreme case of insomnia might be behind it. And I do mean extreme: Poor guy hasn’t slept a wink since Kutner died.
Question: I haven’t been able to find any spoilers for tonight’s House. Do you know anything? –Sari
Ausiello: I know the ep focuses on Chase’s bachelor party, but Fox’s promo already gave that away. What the promo didn’t reveal, however, is the identity of the person throwing the little shindig: House himself!
Question: Anything worth sharing on House? –Tim
Ausiello: A major character will suffer a life-threatening medical emergency tonight. Hint: A clue about what triggers it can be found in last week’s 30 Rock. Guesses? Head to the comments!
Question: Is Chase’s bachelor party part of House’s hallucination? –Samantha
Ausiello: No. House also doesn’t imagine ordering Foreman and Thirteen to go to a strip club to pick out the evening’s, ahem, entertainment.
Question: I’m a little shocked to see Wilson at Chase’s bachelor party in this promo. How’d that happen? –Craig
Ausiello: Let’s just say House arranged it so that he had no other choice. [Source: EW]
House: Episode 5.23 - “Under My Skin” Spoiler Photos
April 22, 2009 by Lynn

Episode 5.23: Under My Skin
Air Date: May 4, 2009
We can see from these photos that House is going to continue to suffer from insomnia and Cuddy will try to help him with it. (Hmmm…makes me wonder what she will try in order to help him sleep…)
The Patient of the Week (POTW) is a ballerina whose skin starts to fall off. Talk about a painful and horrible thing to have! And the fact that Wilson is examining House in the pne photo makes me worry a bit, since he’s an oncologist…

House (Hugh Laurie) struggles with an important decision in the HOUSE episode “Under My Skin” airing Monday, May 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

House Episode 5.21 - “Saviors” Recap
April 15, 2009 by Lynn
Episode 5.21: Saviors
Air Date: April 13, 2009
The episode began with protestors chained to each other around heavy coal mining equipment to stand up for a “green” cause. There are a ton of crazed workers trying to get back to work. One of the protesters collapses. A police officer ends the protest to tend to her. When her fellow protestor gets vertigo and falls down, he says he can’t get up.
At the Princeton Plainsboro Hospital Cameron tells Chase that she has to delay their getaway in order to help a patient get to see House. Chase protests, but she says that as soon as she’s sure House will take the case, she’ll be ready to go.

Cameron (Jennifer Morrison, L) brings a case to House (Hugh Laurie, C) and the team (L-R: Omar Epps, Olivia Wilde and Peter Jacobson) in the HOUSE episode “Saviors” airing Monday, April 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

She talks to House and his team, when Thirteen calls the patient a nutcase.
Thirteen: What’s the mystery? The nutcase spends all his free time wreaking havoc at toxic waste dumps.
Cameron: Tox screen’s negative. No neurological or cardiovascular abnormalities.
Foreman: The guy cares about the environment. That makes him a nutcase?
Taub: He’s a single guy in his twenties. He cares about getting his hybrid waxed by girls who care about the environment.
Foreman: See? Not a nutcase.
Taub: He’s probably just faking so he can sue the cops and get a six-figure settlement.
Cameron: If he was faking an illness, why would he consent to being seen by he best diagnostician in the country?
House: Now who’s trying to get her hybrid waxed?
House tells Cameron the tests that need to be run and that it’s her that needs to repay the favor, not the rest of the team, so she should do them. She reluctantly leaves to run tests.

House: Four New Upcoming Episodes
April 8, 2009 by Lynn

Now that we’ve been given the forever-changing event for House this season, FOX has released some info about the final four episodes of the season. House will be suffering a debilitating bout of insomnia…probably brought on by the aftermath of Kutner’s death. We know that Cameron and Chase will be more involved for the rest of the season and that Carl Reiner will be a very special guest star in the season finale.
Personally, I am eager to find out what fascinating ways House will punish himself and those around him for Kutner’s death, leaving no explanations. Poor House. We’ll watch him go through a breakdown and we all know that won’t happen without everyone else in the hospital being affected. But darn it! I hate it when the season has to end…
Episode 5.21: Saviors
Air Date: April 13, 2009
Cameron postpones her vacation with Chase in order to ask House to accept the case of an environmental radical who collapsed at a protest with unexplainable symptoms. Although suspicious of her motives, House agrees. Since she pushed him to take the case so emphatically, House forces Cameron to take the lead and run many of the tests on the patient. Meanwhile, House is unsure of Wilson’s new healthy diet. [Source: FOX]
Episode 5.22: House Divided
Air Date: April 27, 2009
Spoiler:
A deaf 14-year-old named Seth (guest star Ryan Lane) collapses after “hearing” explosions while competing in a wrestling match and is brought to Princeton Plainsboro. When Seth loses vision in one eye and his condition worsens, the team faces an ethical dilemma involving his mother’s (guest star Clare Carey) adamant decision to forego cochlear implants. Meanwhile, House’s (Hugh Laurie) lack of sleep starts to play tricks on his mind, but he finds insomnia may be a gift instead of a burden. [Source: FOX]
Episode 5.23: Under My Skin
Air Date: May 4, 2009
Spoiler:
House and the team take on the case of a ballerina (guest star Jamie Tisdale) whose lungs collapse in the middle of a performance. When the treatment causes her skin to fall off, the dancer faces not only the prospect of never dancing again but also of dying an agonizing death. The team must use their imaginations to carefully choreograph ways to test and treat her delicate body without killing her. Meanwhile, House continues to suffer from what he thinks is insomnia, and he is willing to go to desperate measures to cure it. [Source: FOX]
Episode 5.24: Both Sides Now
Air Date: May 11, 2009
Spoiler - Season Finale:
House and the team are intrigued by Scott (guest star Ashton Holmes), a man whose left brain and right brain operate independently, leaving him with two distinct personalities and no control over some of his actions. As the two sides of Scott’s brain struggle for dominance, his warring personalities make it increasingly difficult for the team to figure out what is causing the unique problem. The team is forced to use some unusual methods to get him to cooperate with their necessary testing. Meanwhile, when House refuses to make an appearance in the clinic, Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) takes an unconventional approach to force House to make up the time with a particular patient (guest star Carl Reiner).
