The show House has advisors to keep the show’s medical references accurate, but has anyone ever addressed the matter of House’s improper use of the cane? I had wondered about it myself a time or two, but didn’t pay that much attention because it’s not my area of expertise. But I just got a message from a real-life physical therapist, Dee Dee, so tells us the real scoop about proper cane usage:

I have been watching House since it premiered. I am a Physical Therapist by trade and watching House ambulate with his cane has bothered me since it first came on tv. I was taught in PT school (by lecture, by demonstration and by complicated math problelms) that you always carry your assistive device (i.e. cane) in the hand opposite the injury. House should be using the cane in his left hand NOT his right one. By using the cane that way, it applies less stress and weight on the injured limb, so less pain. Thanks.

I tend to be generous with these sorts of things when watching TV shows, because without the info from professionals like Dee Dee I wouldn’t really know the difference anyway and I watch the show for the characters.

Folks, I’ve now seen how well the folks at the Enquirer check their facts. (Not very well.)

Recently Michael Asiello gave us a spoiler for Cameron & Chase.

Now he has an update for us:

“It just so happens that Jennifer Morrison was… at the InStyle party (on the arm of fiancé and costar Jesse Spencer), and, on the topic of Hameron, she said there’s something coming up ‘in about five or six episodes.’ Meanwhile, Spencer shot down rampant spoilers (including one published right here) that Cameron and Chase will be hooking back up in the near future. ‘That’s a total lie,’ Spencer says. ‘Who’s your source? He’s not very reliable.’ OK, changing topics, have they set a date? ‘We haven’t yet,’ she says. ‘It’s really hard because of our schedules. There are [so few] windows of time. We are just trying to figure out where we want to do it.’”

OK, I had a reader alert me to a potential error in the episode “Lines in the Sand.”

shewolfe: okay … House was trying to get the Austistic kid to put on an anthesia mask, so he had the person crank it to max and put it on himself, then the kid, back and forth until the kid passed out. But … then he took the mask off! If he did that the kid should have woken up … but he didn’t.
me: ahhh… you need a continuous supply of the sleepy gas?
shewolfe: yes - no gas, no sleep
