Stephen Fry is Looking Fabulous!!
June 22, 2009 by Lynn
Hugh Laurie’s BFF (Best Friend Forever) Stephen Fry was recently interviewed by Daily Mail where he revealed his new, svelt self. After turning himself into a regular visitor at his gym and changing his eating habits, he’s lost over 60 pounds. He looks wonderful, don’t you think?
But the interview covers much more about Fry than his fabulous weight loss. He also says that he would love to be able to play a guest part as a doctor alongside Hugh Laurie on House. I think that would be fantastic!!!

He’s made a few guest appearances on Bones, another FOX Network series, where he plays Dr. Gordon Wyatt. He plans to make more appearances in that role in the coming year as well.
Here’s what he had to say about his friendship with Hugh:
Fry acknowledges that his life changed when he met Hugh Laurie. ‘I knew he had this amazing comedy acting talent and would go far, but I could never have dreamed that we’d have a working partnership and lifelong friendship.
‘Hugh would pull funny faces and make us laugh, but all he wanted to do was to graduate and join the Hong Kong police. I suspect he rather liked the mental picture of himself in freshly ironed white shorts and shirts.
‘Because of that, he didn’t take acting seriously, but preferred to be the English silly ass rather than a cool James Bond type. We got deeper into the university’s Footlights revue, went on to do Blackadder and Saturday Night Live - and before we knew it, it was too late to turn back.’
Hugh Laurie is Sporting the Scruffy Look
June 2, 2009 by Lynn
Hugh Laurie is wearing a full beard and looks very casual in this photo snapped of him in LAX on Thursday. He looks quite relaxed and I say, “Good for him!” I think he looks great, no matter what!
On a different note, he was recently asked about his feelings for Twitter, the online social networking site. His best friend Stephen Fry is a great fan of Twitter and many of us enjoy following him. (@StephenFry)
Hugh is very philosophical about the 140 characters maximum for each Twitter message.
“I think if people were able to take these 140 characters and develop a poetic Western form - a haiku of our own in which all human existence could be compressed into those 140 characters - that would be a satisfying thing, but that’s not what I see when I read them.”
LOL! I love how he looks at things.
A Bit of Classic Fry & Laurie
January 29, 2009 by Lynn
Thanks to Betsy for the tip about this hilarious bit from early in Hugh Laurie’s career. In the UK, everyone knows that Stephen Fry, who is one of Hugh Laurie’s closest friends to this day, used to be his comedy partner and they had a show called A Bit of Fry & Laurie. During those years, the two performed tons of comic bits and I put one out here every now and then for you to enjoy. This one is new to me. They were guests on another show that I’m not familiar with. I hope you enjoy this Piano Master Class:
Stephen Fry Was in Los Angeles Last Week
December 23, 2008 by Lynn
Paparazzi caught Hugh Laurie’s close friend Stephen Fry and a companion at LAX on December 14. I wonder if he could have been in town to work, or to visit Hugh…? I hope they got a chance to get together while he was in town.

Fry & Laurie Tackle Linguistic Conundrums
August 24, 2008 by Lynn
Linguistic elasticity…who else would have a comedy bit based on such a subject but Fry & Laurie? In this very funny clip, Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry take a look at language. They humorously attempt to answer this question:
Is our English language, as we know it, capable of sustaining demagoguery?
Hugh Laurie’s “translations” are fabulous! You have to watch to understand how funny it is:
Fry & Laurie Examine the Word “Gay”
Here’s another hilarious bit from Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry from the first season of A Bit of Fry & Laurie. They take a look at the odd use of such British terms as “Gay.” And in their characteristic style, they take things far off in some strage direction, leading to nothing less than funny silliness. I love them!
Fry & Laurie: Dancercise
August 24, 2008 by Lynn
Many thanks to Grace for tip about this hilarious clip from Hugh Laurie’s former British hit show, A Bit of Fry & Laurie. It all starts with Stephen Fry telling us the “definition” of dancercise….and gets more absurd from there. I couldn’t help but laugh and hope you will too:
About Depression
It’s no secret that Hugh Laurie has had his battles with depression at times in his life. Many of us have. House fan Grace sent me these quotes about depression fro Hugh and two of his closest friends. I agree that you will probably find them interesting.
“It doesn’t make you want to kill yourself – you just don’t want to be.” ~~ Emma Thompson
“There’s no doubt that I have extremes of mood.” ~~ Stephen Fry
“It was certainly more than feeling a bit sad.” ~~ Hugh Laurie
What are your thoughts on the subject?

The Return of “Blackadder?”
June 14, 2008 by Lynn
At one time, Hugh Laurie was a very funny and hugely successful part of the UK sitcom Blackadder. Now there’s an effort to revive the sitcom, perhaps in 2010 as well as a reunion show entitled Blackadder Exclusive: The Whole Rotten Saga and Blackadder’s Most Cunning Moments. And each of the original actors have been asked to be a part of it.
According to Digital Spy, Hugh has already agreed to take part, along with writers Ben Elton and Richard Curtis, and stars Tony Robinson, Stephen Fry and Miranda Richardson. It will include interviews and behind-the-scenes looks at the show. It sounds like fun!
Unfortunately, Rowan Atkinson, who was also a part of the show has turned down the offer to take part. He’s a private man and has declined comment.
I’ll keep you posted as details are released.
