Breaking News! Hugh Laurie Will be a Presenter at Emmys

ABC just released the news that Hugh Laurie has officially been confirmed as one of the award presenters at this year’s Emmy Awards.
He has been nominated three years in a row for Best Actor in a TV Drama and has yet to win (I hope this is his year!) House is also nominated for its second year as Best TV Drama.
No word yet as to which award he’ll be presenting, but I’ll keep you posted.

House Shut Out at Emmy’s

House Shut Out at Emmy’s

Seriously, I just looked at the official winners list at the Emmy web site, and I didn’t see House mentioned once.
Not for Outstanding Drama (which went to 24)
Not even for the three Creative Emmy’s for which it was nominated. (They went to Rome, Grey’s Anatomy, and Boston Legal.)
So it’s the old goose egg for our beloved show. Well, what do the Emmy voters know anyway? They didn’t even nominate Hugh Laurie!

Emmys Want Hugh! (As Presenter)

Seems like someone has figured out Laurie deserved to be at the Emmy Award show. He wasn’t nominated, but Hugh Laurie will be a presenter at the August 27th event. Hugh seems too modest, but I wonder if the host will slip in a remark about the committee’s oversight.

Who Hugh Lost Out To: Reviewing the Best Actor Emmy Nominations

The outrage continues over the “revised” Emmy process. Change to the system, which were supposed to bring some fresh faces into the mix, seem have to done little to fix the problem. It’s probably better than the Bowl Championship Series, but not much.
Anyway, let’s take a look at who was nominated over Hugh Laurie in the Best Actor category.

Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit – I’ll admit that I’m a Law and Order fan from way back, but I won’t argue against Meloni nomination. I always liked the way he bubbled and frothed, …read more

Omar Epps Snubbed by Emmys Too

Hugh Laurie isn’t the only one who has people decrying his missing Emmy nomination. Omar is getting support too.
What do you think? Did Omar deserve a nomination for Best Supporting Actor?

House Nominated for Best Drama Emmy

The nominee list is out, and House has been nominated for a Best Drama Emmy. Despite the tweaks to the system, however, Hugh Laurie did not get nominated for Best Actor in a Drama. In total House received four nominations:

Best Drama
Outstanding Art Direction for a Single-Camera Series
Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series (Supports all those voting Yes in the poll.)
Outstanding Single-Camera Sound Mixing for a Series

[Update] Patrick is rounding up some of the reaction to Laurie’s omission.
