Omar Epps Talks About House’s Team in Season 6

July 9, 2009 by Lynn

Omar Epps, who plays Foreman on House, talked at the Paley Center a bit about how House’s breakdown will affect the team. He gives some insight into Foreman’s reaction and whether he will take the helm of the team in House’s absence.

Omar also gives us his take on what to expect between Foreman & Thirteen next season. I like his description of the two characters. He too tells us how he is different with his own doctor now that he’s on the show.

Kristin at E! Online gives us some inside scoop on what to expect to happen with the various relationships on House in season 6. There’s a bit of Huddy & Hameron info from Lisa Edelstein, some Foreman scoopage from Omar Epps and some teaser info about who will take over the diagnostic team in House’s absence…Cuddy perhaps? :-)

Martin in Hackensack, N.J.: Any word on who will be in charge while House is in the mental institution?

Executive producer David Shore tells us, “We are going to have some fun with who is going to be running the diagnostics department. We’re not bringing in anyone new right now, so it’s going to be somebody you know.”

Andy in Long Beach, Calif.: What’s the Huddy scoop for the next season of House?

We asked Lisa Edelstein if she’d be visiting House in the mental hospital, to which she replied, “I hope so, unless he doesn’t want to see her.” When it comes down to it, she is rooting for Huddy to be together, but not in the way you’d expect. Says Edelstein, “I love that storyline, but not together together. I just like the torture of it all.” And for you Hameron fans, Lisa sets the record straight on if she wants to see House with Cameron? “No! Are you kidding?”

Aaron in Rancho Bernardo, Calif.: Any good news for fans of Foreteen on House?

Not likely. As Omar Epps explains, trouble at work may equal trouble for Foreteen. Says Epps, “Knowing the rhythm of our show, [their relationship] is going to progress into a brick wall.” [Source: E! Online]

House Presentation at the Paley Center

There’s a very comprehensive play-by-play account of the evening’s House discussion at the Paley Center last night at The Futon Critic, so I won’t re-write the entire thing. I do encourage you to go read the entire account. It’s wonderful.

I do want to share a couple of my favorite quotes from the evening, though. This first one is Hugh Laurie’s trademark wit:

When asked about House’s trip to the loony bin at the end of this season. “It’s all drawn heavily on my personal life,” Hugh quips.

SPOILER ALERT!!

Here’s a quote from David Shore about the beginning of season 6:

When asked why the season premiere will pick up shortly after the finale wrapped instead of the usual three month or so gap: “We don’t want to shake things up for the sake of shaking things up,” David says. “We just want to keep exploring this character… we’re just seeing where his life progresses and where it goes. And the end of last year obviously we did something that felt natural and real to me but is very extreme and we want to be as true to that as we can and follow up on that. So we are doing, Katie’s going to be directing a two-hour season premiere, which is basically a movie which basically follows House through that institution. And it takes place over a much longer period of time than we’re used to. And [it's about] his life in there, his search for getting better.”

And this quote is for the Huddy fans. To me, it’s hard to imagine House & Cuddy not having that chemistry, but here’s what David Shore said about it:

When asked about when the Cuddy/House ball started rolling: “Very early on,” David says. “No matter what we wrote, the two of them had this odd sexual tension. And that’s been something we’ve been nurturing and trying to explore from day one.” As for their imaginary hook-up: “I think it was significant even though it turned out not to be real. It was very significant - we got an insight into House’s subconscious.”

There’s also some of what was said to the press at The Press Association. My favorite quote from this aricle is from Lisa Edelstein:

“He’s a sexy man, he’s eight feet tall, his eyes are like ice blue, he’s extremely intelligent, really talented, what’s not sexy about Hugh Laurie?!”

I agree with her completely! Now I absolutely can’t wait for Season 6 to begin!!!

House Cast Members at Paley Center

June 18, 2009 by Lynn

Along with Hugh Laurie, the Paley Center had some of the other House cast members appear last night to talk about the creative process for the show.

Here are some photos of Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps and Robert Sean Leonard from the event. RSL rarely makes appearances, so it’s a real pleasure to find photos of him there too!

House: More Cast Members Talk About S5 Finale

May 10, 2009 by Lynn

Here are the rest of the House cast members telling their takes on the last portion of the 5th season of House. (With the obvious exception of Robert Sean Leonard. I wish he would do more of these types of things.)

House star Omar Epps tells us how it felt to film the scene with Kutner’s death. Then he gives us his view of the Foreteen relationship…very interesting! And I love how he discusses House’s addiction and drug use history. I think you’ll enjoy this clip:

And here, Lisa Edelstein tells us what she thinks Cuddy’s role was when Kutner died. She also addresses House’s emotional crisis and the relationship between House & Cuddy.

House Episode 5.16: “The Softer Side” - Photos

House Spoilers

Episode 5.16: The Softer Side
Air Date: February 16, 2009

In this episode of House it looks like the leg pain has finally become so intolerable that House will start to try to deal with it in a new and more dangerous way. Knowing that he’s a Vicodin addict and has done everything from drop acid to sticking a knife in a socket up until now, there’s no telling what his new “treatment” will consist of…

And the patient is another child whose parents aren’t honest with House…gee, what are the chances of that? ;-)

Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard, C) and Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein, R) are surprised to learn that House (Hugh Laurie, L) has found a new way to treat his leg pain in the HOUSE episode “The Softer Side” airing Monday, Feb. 16 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

House Episode 5.14: “The Greater Good” Promos

House Spoilers

Episode 5.14: The Greater Good
Air Date: February 2, 2009

To get us excited about the House 100th episode that will air on Monday, FOX has released a bunch of promo video clips. It looks like things between Foreman & Thirteen are going to get rough and Thirteen is going to have health issues…perhaps even be blinded. And the patient tells why she stopped practicing medicine to work in a restaurant kitchen. I actually can identify with what she says…who among us hasn’t at some time in our life asked ourselves if there was something else that would make us happy? And the fact that Cuddy & House go on some sort of escalating retaliation looks fantastic! This looks like a very cool episode!

And here are the Photos and the Press Release for the episode.

Here’s the FOX press release for the next episode of House, the 100th episode. In this episode, I think I most look forward to Cuddy’s retaliation against House. I saw a promo clip (I’m trying to track it down for you) where House trips and falls on his face with the cane sliding across the floor away from him. Since I know he’s not really disabled, it looks like a very funny scene and I know that Hugh Laurie will play it to its most hilarious!

Press Release:
100. A SEMIPERFECT NUMBER. A SEMIPERFECT MAN.
“HOUSE” CELEBRATES MILESTONE 100TH EPISODE
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, ON FOX

The prognosis is excellent for the brilliant, anti-social anti-hero Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) and his colleagues at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital as HOUSE celebrates a milestone 100th episode Monday, Feb. 2 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In the 100th episode, “The Greater Good,” House and the team take on the case of a woman who collapsed in the middle of a cooking class. When they learn that the patient gave up her career as a highly renowned cancer researcher in order to pursue her own personal happiness, the members of the team question their own happiness (or lack thereof). Meanwhile, Thirteen (Olivia Wilde) begins to suffer serious and life-threatening reactions to her experimental Huntington’s Disease clinical drug trial, and Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) retaliates against House and gives him a taste of his own medicine.

Over the course of five seasons, House has proven no bar is too low and has shocked those around him with the lengths he will go in order to prove he’s right – from faking brain cancer to score drugs (“Half Wit”) to pulling a hair out of his father’s corpse to test the DNA (“Birthmarks”) to kidnapping his favorite soap star because he’s convinced the actor has an illness he doesn’t yet realize (“Living the Dream”).

Many notable guest stars have appeared on the show over the last 100 episodes including Academy Award winners Mira Sorvino and Joel Grey; Emmy Award winners Sela Ward, Cynthia Nixon, John Larroquette, Željko Ivanek and Charles S. Dutton; recording artists/actors Dave Matthews, LL Cool J, Brandy and Fred Durst; as well as David Morse, who received an Emmy Award nomination for his role on HOUSE. Other notable appearances include Ron Livingston, Anne Dudek, Carmen Electra, Julie Warner, Greg Grunberg, Chi McBride, Samantha Mathis, Lori Petty, Michael Michele, Jason Lewis, Kurtwood Smith, PRISON BREAK star Dominic Purcell and John Cho, who stars with HOUSE series regular Kal Penn in the “Harold and Kumar” films.

Winner of three Emmy Awards, including an award for creator and executive producer David Shore (Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series), HOUSE has been honored with 17 Emmy Award nominations, including three for Outstanding Drama Series and three for Hugh Laurie (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series). The series received the 2006 Humanitas Prize for the episode “Three Stories” and received two Golden Globe Awards for Laurie (Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series) and [two] Screen Actors Guild Award[s] for Laurie (Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series) as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination (Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series), two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Television Series, Drama, two consecutive People’s Choice Awards for Favorite TV Drama, a People’s Choice Award for Hugh Laurie (Favorite Male TV Star) and an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.

House Episode 5.15: “Unfaithful” - Spoiler Photos

House Spoilers

Episode 5.15: Unfaithful
Air Date: February 9, 2009

Well, it looks like things are going to get tense for Foreman & Thirteen around the hospital. House is going to give them some sort of an ultimatum…that doesn’t sound pleasant at all. And Foreman’s covert actions regarding Thirteen’s treatment in his clinical trial are still to be discovered. On the other hand, treating a priest who is hallucinating sounds like a classic and fascinating theme for House to play with. I can’t wait!
